    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I had a fantastic two weeks at Taylor Wessing. All of the work was engaging and my input was valued by every person who gave me work to do. The information sessions put on to give more insight into the different departments I hadn't sat in were extremely helpful and allowed me to gain a whole picture of the firm.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • All of the work I completed was valued, assessed and used in actual client contact more often than I expected. Everyone had time to talk to me about work and beyond to help me understand more about life as a lawyer at the firm. Everyone who gave me work spent time after I'd completed it discussing what I did well and how to improve for the next time.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • On the first day we were given a morning of introductory talks, including a helpful talk on how to use the IT system properly. When i had issues with my computer, it was easy to get the IT team to fix it for me. In terms of the work, it was easy to ask questions as, with an open door policy, everyone had time to give me full answers

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The Taylor Wessing vac scheme allowed me to gain confidence in my ability to complete work in a professional corporate environment. I was given tasks that trainees would normally have been given and being trusted to produce quality work independently is something I will carry on to my future studies.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Being able to structure our days in terms of how much work we did in our departments was a good organisational challenge. The fixed Focus On sessions and networking drinks/social events were well spread out and always worth attending. There was one day when most of the day was taken up with Focus On sessions which limited the work we could do in our departments, but that was only a minor issue.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The welcoming and friendly atmosphere advertised exceeded my expectations. The op;en door policy made it so easy to talk to anyone, from trainee buddy to managing partner. Everyone was open to talking and took an interest in my experiences and how I was enjoying my time at the firm. It made it easy to fit in and be confident in interactions with team members.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The Focus On sessions were excellent in informing us on how the departments run, what trainee life will be like and the type of work they do. It was easy to organise to chat to people in different departments one on one to gain a more personal understanding of their daily lives and career experiences

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Our group presentation topic was on Diversity and Inclusion, so it was really interesting to see how much the firm invest in their lawyers, in terms of ensuring they are as happy and healthy as possible in what can be a stressful job. Interactions with individual team members only highlighted the welcoming and friendly culture further.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were a couple of social events which were perfect to get to know the trainees on a more personal level. There were also a couple of networking drinks and lunches organised, which allowed us to talk to associates and partners who we haven't had the opportunity to speak to. There was also time in which we could organise to see people one on one in different departments.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • 5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Absolutely. It was a great two weeks in terms of personal development and being able to find out more about law as a career path. There were plenty of opportunities to get involved in important and challenging work, with proper background information and feedback given each time. I thoroughly enjoyed my time.
