About You
I thoroughly enjoyed my insight into Squire Patton Boggs as a law firm, it was a great way to get to know more about the firm and the people within the firm.
Having the opportunity to work on live cases was a fun experience, it made me feel like valued member of the team because my work was needed in order for the transaction to run smoothly. I was encouraged by my supervisor to meet everyone in my department, from this I was able to build relationships and again feel valued at the firm.
I received a huge amount of support from my supervisor, each time I was given a task, they would address any queries. I also received constructive feedback from each task I did. They also encouraged me to network with the firm.
I think the skills I've developed and information received will most certainly assist me in the future because it'll provide me with more guidance/understanding as I continue my degree in law and pursue my career in being a commercial lawyer.
The Company
I think the insight was really well structured, there was a clean plan of what departments the vac schemers were going to be in for each week, the supervisors had already planned tasks and practice group presentations were slotted in for every morning. I liked the fact that the interviews and team presentations were in the second week because by then you had settled in the firm.
The firm created a very positive atmosphere during the insight, it was supportive and friendly, I felt comfortable throughout the entire 2 weeks.
For the tasks I was doing, I believe I was given the right amount of training and development.
Working similar hours to lawyers gave me a massive insight into having a full time role with this firm.
I learnt so much about the company culture because I was constantly networking with different people, it was this aspect of the firm I really enjoyed.
Extremely valuable because you're learning directly from practical lawyers.
Everything Else
Yes, we have a number of social events with trainees and wider departments.
I thoroughly enjoyed the networking/social events, it was nice to get to know the people who worked at Squire Patton Boggs, outside of the firm environment.
Yes, I was told about various sporting activities and charity events.
Yes, it was a great opportunity for me to learn more about a career in commercial law.
