    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • An amazing introduction to the firm. It introduced me to an area of the company I had not experienced before and made me want to pursue a career here. Work was varied and I was given a lot of responsibility despite only just starting - really welcomed by the whole team.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • At first it did seem that they were a little unsure what to do with me but as soon as I settled the team made me feel like I was really useful with the work I was doing. They sat down with me and reviewed the work I had completed and made me feel like my work was important.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The team provided me with very good feedback regarding all my work. They told me where I could improve in a constructive manner and it really helped me see where I was going wrong but not condescendingly. All members of the team did not hesitate to help me with a question or query.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The placement helped me to narrow down the area I want to go into - It helped me apply skills I had learnt at Uni and apply them in a practical environment. Using new software helped me narrow down my options for this year so I could tailor my degree to my career.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It wasn't very structured which was the only negative - The start of the programme was very well organised but there wasn't a set structure for the rest of the programme. The passport provided rough guidance to what I should be doing but it was more of a jump in and get started kind of feel.

    3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • All the team were super welcoming, inviting me to every social and lunch. I went out regularly with members in the team for drinks and nights out and they really made me feel like part of the team and not an outsider. This really put me at ease and made me feel really confident in my work.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was a lot of online training modules which were firm specific but in terms of other more formal training there was none. Most of the things I learnt were taught to me by sitting down with other staff members and learning to use systems and resources. The people manager was really useful in making sure that I was up to date on my placement and fufiled my tasks.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Massively ! Meeting and working with lots of the grads enabled me to see what their day to day activities included. This meant that I understood exactly what I would be doing if I joined the firm next September. They also explained the examinations and how this fits around working,

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Working in the office showed me that hard working is rewarded and the feel of the team.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very. Working within this team showed me that this is the career path I want to take. Also my people leader set up meetings with lots of other people in the office which enabled me to discuss other departments and see if they are more interesting to me. This showed me I wanted to work for the company !

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Fair pay

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • My people manager set up lots of meetings and coffees with other departments in order to meet others in the office apart from my team. Also my People Leader was really proactive in making sure that I was introduced to everyone in the department and encouraged me to make relationships.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Amazing! Luckily enough I was in a super social team who went out twice in the first week of starting. This enabled me to build relationships quickly and feel comfortable within the team when at work. I would definitely recommend making the most of all invites and socialising as it does make you feel more included within the team!

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • There were a few conversations with people within the team about using volunteering days and charity events but not much else.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes 100% - this enabled me to see exactly what path I wanted to take career wise and helped me to shape my path to enable this. The insight gives you the opportunity to experience day to day life within the firm, making sure the grad scheme is exactly what you want to do and the opportunity for a grad scheme is amazing.
