    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • This was a thoroughly enjoyable placement. I have been welcomed into the firm and already feel like I am a part of the team that works here! There were many opportunities given to me, includng insight sessions, hands-on work, networking and social events. Each department I worked made me feel welcome and made the whole experience more enjoyable. Overall, a great scheme!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The graduate recruitment and everybody at the firm made me feel welcome and valued throughout my experience. Everyone was friendly and spent the time needed to go through my work and explain to me the department I was sat in. By taking the time to talk to me, I felt like I was a valued member of the team who already works here.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received lots of guidance when I first came into the scheme, with details of what to expect and the types of work I will be conducting. If I ever needed any help with my work whislt completing it, someone will always take the time to go through anything I need. I always received feedback on my work when I asked for it and this way, I felt that I built the support I needed on this placement and afterwards.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Having a hands on experience allowed me to develop many skills past my degree. I learnt about more practical skills and how to apply the knowledge I learnt in my degree to real-life situations. This will ultimately help me to complete my LPC in the coming year and help me further when I begin my training contract.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The whole scheme was structured extremely well from day 1. I was given an induction pack containing all of the schedules for both the London induction week and the two weeks following this in my respective office. This schedule was mainly followed with only a few minor changes in speakers. Overall, the structure was fluent and coherent throughout the whole palcement.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was always a friendly one! Everyone, from the staff to the other interns, showed welcoming and approachable faces, which made me feel calm throughout the scheme. The atmosphere in the Liverpool office can only be described as friendly because everyone, from the trainees to the partners, is approachable and ready for a chat! This made me feel welcomed as an intern and at ease knowing that I could talk to anyone in the office.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • DLA invested so much into myself and all ofthe other interns. By taking us to London for an induction week, DLA made sure that we developed the necessary skills we would need to help mesucceed throughout our internship and later in life. Once I arrived at the office, the training and development did not stop there. I participated in insight sessions and networking events throughout the two weeks, improving all of the necessary skills to be successful in this role. I felt like DLA invested a lot into helping me succeed on this scheme.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I participated in daily insight sessions where partners and heads of department delivered a video conference on the department in which they sit. These were transmitted across the UK and Hong Kong, giving us all an insight into what a day in the life of a partner would be like. This was very useful and was grately appreciated as I was able to understand, more personally, what it would be like to work in different departments in DLA.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • By attending numerous social events during and after work I was able to see how great the culture is at Liverpool. There are so many differing social events which everyone is welcome to attend, ranging from networking, dinner and watching the football! These were great as I got to experience what it would be like if I were a trainee here.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Everyday I was given different tasks to perform, with no day the same! Through this, I was able to see how each department I sat in works and what the daily tasks would be if I were a trainee here. This was great to help me decide which seats I want to sit in on my training contract.
