The Role
PwC was a fantastic placement to have. I have developed my technical skills greatly, being allowed to work on my own projects and learn new programming languages. I have developed skills in Python, Visual Basic, Raspberry Pi's, Alteryx, Natural Language Processing, JavaScript, Web Development. I have also been given fantastic opportunities to see other areas of the business. I would recommend PwC to anyone as a placement.
My colleagues were fantastic, I had 5 other people completing my placement alongside me. We had a great social life and developed a great friendship too. It was great to be able to work with these during the year (even though we had different roles), you meet some fantastic people. We had a range of different skills, so it was great to be able to bounce ideas off each other.
Fantastic support from management, I had a close relationship with many of them! Sometimes it was easy to forget they were management. They were always there for me when I had issues and was happy to help me extend at PwC when I decided I wanted too. The only thing stopping me from being 10 stars is the fact I had a slight issue with rotating to another role, which was not as interesting, however this was eventually resolved.
I had the perfect balance between work, learning and social life. This is something I could not knock at all. Monday-Thursday was just the right amount of work. Then Friday's were spent learning, this was amazing for my development and for my CV. I have no degree in CS, but now have the skills for my CV as a similar student.
I was given more responsibility than expected during my placement. With it being a massive company, I thought I would spend most of the time doing the smaller tasks, this was not the case! I was given the same responsibility as full time employees, in some cases even more than they had.
The skills developed during my placement here were a fantastic additional to my knowledge and CV. I have developed so many skills over the course of my placement, something I would not of been exposed to before. I believe this is going to set my aside from my peers when applying for jobs going forward.
The Company
The general atmosphere of the office was great, luckily I was sat with mainly younger people in my first rotation, which really helped. Generally, the office was older people, however there was regular events that was arranged. It was also great to have the ability to work from home when I wanted.
My placement (particularly my first rotation) was organised very well, putting a massive focus on my personal development. They do the same programme each year, whilst ensuring to improve it, so they are used to having placement students. My only fault was with my second rotation, which seemed slightly less organised.
I was massively invested in for training and development, although I only went on a hand full of training courses. I was allowed a lot of time to spend on learning new things, something that has been fantastic for me and enjoyed a lot. I particularly can thank my first rotation for this.

I would love to come back to PwC. I am not sure exactly where yet, as there are so many opportunities here. I am currently in discussions about coming back after I graduate, so hopefully that goes well. As it is a fantastic job with wages above average of other roles.
The Culture
The social scene was great, although self organised. We regularly met up after work, multiple times a week. Everyone was so friendly and driven to do well. It was particularly nice for me as I knew no one else in the area I was working, due to being from far away.
Cost of living was highly expensive in London, however the placement salary was above average and I had a student loan to help with this. Socialising was also expensive but that is expected in London. I am not from London so it was great to be able to experience this.
Nightlife was more just the pub, than going to a club. Going to the local pubs was great, I really enjoyed spending my time with the placement students and other colleagues too. Outside of work, nightlife was crazy with some of the biggest clubs in the country, a great experience.
There was, however this is not something I did really. The only opportunities I took was to go out drinking with my colleagues and their friends, something that I really enjoyed; especially the free drinks! There were opportunities for social clubs created by other employees, around running, Bitcoin and other clubs.
