    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement. On my first day I was very nervous but the team were very welcoming and helped me settle in quickly. I joined the FTS team which enabled me to try out lots of different software and helped me gain experience in different programming languages such as C# and SQL. I believe the skills and experience that I gained is going to be very helpful for my final year at university.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues always treated me as an associate instead of a business placement. This therefore meant that I was given the same responsibilities as a full time worker. Everyday we had meetings to assign tasks etc. Having so much responsibility I was therefore given complex tasks and was expected to complete them at the same standard as an associate would. I believe this improved my overall standard of work.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • On the main project that I worked on I was working with a Senior Associate, Assistant Manager, Manager. When working on something new these people would've walked me through the task and explained it in detail. If I ever had any queries on a task they were always there to answer any questions in full.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Within FTS there is always something to do. You will never be bored or have nothing to do. Sometimes you can be very busy as deadlines need to be met however if this is the case more people will help out with the task to ease the pressure on you.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given more responsibility as my placement went on. At the beginning I was working a lot more closely with people so they were always there if I had any questions however gradually throughout the year I was given my own tasks to complete and manage within different projects.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • These skills will assist me a lot next year as I will be able to apply them to my final year project. I have worked with a lot of different types of software which was not something I was expecting to do. I feel that this will assist me when I finish University.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere within the office was very pleasant. This is because everyone is the office gets along very well and everyone is very easy to talk to. Every Friday we have a huddle where we can catch up with everyone and look into any updates/changes that has been happening within the firm.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • When I first started my placement I shadowed other employees for the first couple of days to learn the general process of the work that I would be doing so I had a basic understanding. After this I attended a training course which taught me a lot on the different type of software that I would be using.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • After your placement is over there is a chance that you may be offered a full time role with the firm. I believe that future employment prospects within PwC are very good. The salary is good, you get a good benefits package and bonus. More importantly everyone within the office is easy to work with which will make your time a lot more enjoyable
