The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed it a lot as I felt like one of the team, at no point was I looked down on just because I had less experience. Everyone was very relaxed but would get on with work at times. Work life was balanced well with social aspects of work.
I definitely felt like I was one of the team, I got given responsibility as if I was a full time employee. I would always be invited to meeting to asked for my opinion. If I had something to say I was listened to and it was taken on board.
The guidance I was given by my management was outstanding. They were always prepared to help me out and give me the training I required. It wasn't just the management that gave me support but my colleagues too everyone was really friendly and always willing to give me a hand if there was something I didn't quite understand.
It could vary quite a bit, some days I could have not a lot to do, but still enough to get me through the day. and other days, mainly during releases, I could have lots of work to do and felt swamped over. All in all though I felt the balance was good.
I was given as much responsibility as the rest of the team. I had the opportunity, with the other placement, to oversee a project and complete a project that would get released. The management were very pleased with the outcome and I felt like I learned a lot from it.
I have gained loads of skills from time management to security. I was given all the training I needed to complete the job and this will help me in my final year by being able to plan out work effectively, something I struggled with for the first couple of years.
The Company
The atmosphere was very chilled out but quiet at the same time. While it was okay to talk the office remained mainly silent allowing me to work without being distracted by things going on around me. If we wanted to have a break from work the kitchen would be a great place to grab a tea and have a chat.
I was well organised but it didn't seam much different from getting a new member of the team so probably didn't require much planning. Nevertheless I got stuck into doing work as soon as I was ready with the help of my colleagues at my hand in case I got stuck.
I was trained well but only in the aspects required for the job. It was a shame that there was no further training on a variety of other job sectors as I am still unsure of what I want to do after university. I still had a good amount of training and feel like I know a lot more than when I first joined.

Working from home
Pretty high, I got asked if I wanted to come back after I finished my degree as they were impressed with the work I have done. However, I am unsure as to whether I am going to take it as I am not sure what my future holds. I will hopefully work out more during my final year.
The Culture
Yes, as colleagues we would regularly go out for meals/ drinks after work to get to know the team better. There were also a few company wide social events. As placement students we met up a few times outside of work to get to know one another but this was organised by us.
I lived in a town nearby as it was cheaper to rent and travel there than it was to rent in the place I worked. However this meant I would spend quite a lot of my day travelling when I could have been socialising with friends or getting back lost sleep.
Very limited. There was one club that you could go to (I don't know anyone who has been). However there are quite a few pubs and bars that people meet up in after work. It was a very small town but there are bigger towns very close and travel wouldn't be an issue.
There were a few social activities that but most of them were sports and I am not a sporty person meaning I did not join in with many. It would have been good to see a range of activities to join in with over the course of the weeks but it all depended on what other people were interested in.
