  • Overall, a really great experience, motivated me to study further and pursue a career in academia/pharmaceuticals.

  • Couldn't haver asked for a better supervisor - she helped me with both scientific questions, career and future plans and general questions regarding living in UK (I'm from EU mainland).

  • First 2 months was learning and attending various training seminars focused on labwork, scientific writing, safety etc. Also, throughout the year I had opportunities to attend various lectures and seminars on the latest scientific research data.

  • The employment prospects are great, however for a biologist, a core requirement is often a PhD degree.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Team pub lunches, birthday celebrations and team building events.

  • 600-750 pounds/month.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Not interested in nightlife much myself, however London was just 25minutes away by train and the trains ran all night, so whoever wanted to go out, could do so easily.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Stevenage is a small town, however if an individual wanted, I believe yes. Some of my coworkers volunteered for charity, other sang in a choir.
