    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed gaining first hand experience through being sent to different clients and gaining a valuable insight into the audit process itself. The company did a good job of welcoming up into the firm and providing the necessary guidance.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I thought I integrated well into my various audit teams and found that my colleagues were appreciative of the work I was doing, which was reflected in my feedback. I also felt they were very happy to give me advice and go through tasks with me when I was doing things for the first time and needed a bit of guidance.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • As above, I felt my superious were very welcoming and happy to help if I ever had any queries. I also really appreciated the support of my People Manager who was very responsive.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I worked on 2 year-end audits and as such had a fair amount of work to do, although I think my colleagues were being nice to me as an intern and not making me stay until too late...

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I felt I gained a fair amount of responsibility as my internship went on, and at the end my colleagues felt confident trusting me with the completion of more complex procedures and sending me on my own to speak to the client and obtain the necessary information. In fact, occasionally during my second audit I almost felt my team were giving me slightly too much responsibility and autonomy as once or twice I found myself responsible for things I didn't fully understand and therefore had to make sure I cleared things up with my team before proceeding to talk to the client.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe I have developed good teamwork and communication skills and certainly gained a lot of confidence discussing issues both with team members and with the client.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was a lot more light-hearted than I expected and very good natured, although of course everyone worked hard.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well, we had a lot of support and I was always kept busy.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Our People Manager was a very useful contact and we completed all the basic firm training courses to help us understand different issues we could be confronted with.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 0/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have already accepted a full-time offer for after my degree.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were social groups in the office but I was at a client site for nearly my whole placement, so didn't get a chance to get involved in this as much as hoped. I hope to take advantage of this more when working full-time.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • N/A - I was living at home as it was closer to the client site...

    0/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • N/A

    0/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As stated, not as much as hoped due to the fact I was mainly based off-site.
