    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Throughout my year at Enterprise I've had times where it has been really enjoyable and I've loved coming to work every day and there has also been tougher days where it wasn't as enjoyable, however that is as expected in most jobs. On the most part, my year here has been a great experience and a lot of fun.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I feel like my colleagues of similar age and similar responsibility within the company, for example other Management Trainee's, value me for my hard work and time, however, the higher members of staff such as Area managers may send the odd generic appreciative email but I feel they failed to value me in a more sincere and genuine level.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • During my year from start to finish I was not given a mentor like the majority of my colleagues had, therefore I didn't have much one-on-one support from the same person that I could turn to if needed. However, within my office I became great friends with the assistant managers who would also offer support and would offer me more responsibilities to challenge me as my time went on.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As my office was very close to the city center and lots of industrial estates, we were a very corporate heavy branch. This meant that a big part of our days were delivering to our corporate clients. Mondays and Fridays were normally our busiest days in terms of the deliveries whereas mid-week it was busy in terms of the admin stuff such as debt-chasing. It's safe to say there was never a dull day which you would ever have nothing to do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • It wasn't until about half-way through my placement when I started to get responsibilities that were different and more challenging than I had experienced before. Tasks such as chasing debt from accounts that had not been paying us was a responsibility given to be about 5-6 months in. Apart from this main job, most other tasks were split between other staff members. Although your day-to-day serving customers and basic tasks were done by everyone.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I've always been interested in the finance area of business management so the fact I was given the responsibility to chase debt and make sure all of our accounts were level has given me a great insight into what I thought was a potential career for me. Apart from this, generally this placement has developed my customer service both face to face and over the phone which is great to have in any job but also my maturity as a person so I feel I will go back to university with a different outlook and desire to do well at university and at work.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • 9 days out of 10 the office atmosphere was extremely positive and a fun place to be and a place where I've had lots of laughs. The odd time when we'd had a few angry customers or we knew we would be finishing late put a downer on the mood however on the whole it was great atmosphere.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Well organized. Each new intern was given a training folder which was like a guideline to where you should be in terms on development by certain dates and we all had set dates in head office where your personal development would be reviewed.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Up until I completed my training folder there was a lot of support and training, once I completed in about 8 months in the training just seemed to stop, even when I kept asking for more to progress to the next step.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am currently in discussion with my current branch manager and the area manager about coming back to do part-time work whilst in my final year of university.

    3/5
