    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my 12 month placement with Enterprise, it was a good taste of what working life will be like after university as I was given so much responsibility. I learnt lots about how the business is run, whilst being rewarded for good work. For example I have had days off work to go paintballing so it was nice to be recognised for doing things well.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt valued from the start as I was called a couple of days prior to starting my job which put me at ease before starting. My branch had got me a mug and card on my first day which was a very nice gesture and made me feel welcome instantly. I think recognition is one of Enterprise's best positives so I would say I felt valued throughout my placement.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I felt like I always had people to turn to when in need of help whether that was from employees within my own branch, outside in a different branch or with the area manager. I was given lots of training from manager different avenues and felt supported and valued throughout my year with Enterprise. The different opportunities you got with other people within your area (like on nights out organised by Enterprise) meant that you always felt you had somewhere to turn when you need help.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Extremely busy day to day within the branch which meant that the days went by very quickly. The work was so varied that they didn't feel like particularly long days, however sometimes you could be so busy within a day that you may not get very long to get and eat your lunch.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Lots of responsibility and the further I got into my placement the more I was given. I got a taste of what it was like being an assistant manager too which was a very good opportunity. There were many elements involved with a successful branch so every member of the team had their own jobs/responsibilities and areas of the business to look after.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel like the skills and knowledge gained from enterprise will assist me in the future as I have developed a strong work ethic and the ability to work well under pressure. The responsibilities I had left me with more confidence going into any workplace and the autonomy you were given in your day to day role when dealing with customers again assisted with being more confident.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was very good within my branch and like I said I had a very good team to work with and could call the people I worked with in my branch friends. Work was enjoyable most of the time and working closely within a tight knit group was enjoyable.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organized as I got a phone call before starting placement and given regular check in points throughout. I had a 90 day review and went out with my branch manager to go over my performance. I had regular contact from Enterprise since I sent my application in right through to the end finishing my placement.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I feel like Enterprise fully invested in me as I felt like I was treated the same as full time graduates that had started the programme at the same time as me. I have also been given the opportunity to work part time whilst being at university, showing they have invested in me and I would have a career here.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Appealing as there is so much opportunity to progress as the company promote from within. In my time with the company I have seen employees get promoted into management roles very quickly. This is one of the best and most appealing parts of the job as you know if you work hard you can really progress in your career with Enterprise.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes there were many different occasions you would go out with members of your team after work for someone's birthday or if a member of the team had been promoted to another branch. There have also been nights out with other branches in your area in Manchester and Liverpool and also went to a Spring Ball at the Hilton.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost and living wasn't really applicable as I was staying at home with my parents.
