Case Handler Review

I thoroughly enjoyed the whole week. I learnt a lot and tasks that were set were varied and exciting. The people in my team were very helpful and provided help and support where required. I thoroughly enjoyed corporate law in practice and getting to know everyone in the corporate team.

I felt very valued throughout the week. Members of my team took time out to sit and get to know me and what I do in my usual line of work. They provided guidance and advice on how to succeed in law and improve my prospects in the legal industry.

Everyone was really helpful. Partners, trainees and associates all provided equal support and were very approachable. They provided feedback on tasks and feedback at the end of the week with advice on how to further improve myself and my work. They also provided lots of positive feedback which was helpful.

The skills I have developed have provided me with an insight into corporate law in practice. This allowed me to put my studies into practice and really learn the difference in theory and practice. I will be able to use the skills of adaptability when working in different areas of law.

The insight was well structured. I received regular emails from Graduate Recruitment and always had tasks set for the day ahead. Graduate recruitment also set exciting tasks for the end of the week, including a presentation, written task, poster and email to a partner as part of a fun project.

The atmosphere was great. Everyone was very friendly and personable and made the work environment lively and fun. The fact that they could agile work was also beneficial and stood out to me. This is something fresh and new for law firms and really works wonders. It also provides opportunities of collaboration.

The firm provided one to one training and development. I was able to sit with different people each day and learn something new. I was also able to openly question and received detailed answers. The team also allowed me to attend a completion which was very insightful and a great experience.

The insight allowed me to experience life as a trainee and the sort of tasks that would be required of me. It also provided an insight into the work life balance of a trainee and flexible work approach. Trainees are able to agile work and can work from home some days.

As I already work at the company I am already aware of the company culture. However this insight provided me with an understanding of the culture in a different department and the difference in work life balance in another part of the firm. Overall the firm's culture is very friendly.

The content was valuable in the sense that the deals the team work on are of high vale and important. The cross border nature of some of the deals provides excitement and a real learning experience. I enjoyed the fact that you are continuously learning new skills whilst carrying out high value work and this enabled me to decide that this is something I want to do in the near future.

I was paid my normal rate as a employee of the firm. I did not incur any further expenses as the location of the insight was at my usual place of work and the start and end time was the same too. No further expenses were incurred during this insight.

There were plenty of opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the firm. As I was sitting in an open plan office, I was able to speak to a number of people from other departments such as Real Estate and Banking and Finance. I was also able to attend a completion and network there.

The networking opportunities were great. In particular I was able to speak to clients of the team and attend the completion were I was introduced to other solicitors at other nearby firms and also got to know the corporate solicitors at my firm in more detail. They were all very friendly.

I learnt that employees regularly attend socials with each other and there are numerous trainee socials including crazy golf trips and trips to the races. Trainees can also join societies with trainees of other firms in the Manchester area and there is also options of sports clubs and much more.

I would recommend this insight to a friend. I learnt a lot from this experience and it was a real eye opener for me. The insight was very enjoyable and better than I thought it would be. The tasks were fun yet challenging and I was able to work with people of different levels.
