    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Truly insightful week and very enjoyable. Gained a huge insight into EY's advisory service line and shadowed very inspirational women in senior positions. Learned about what EY are doing to support women to reach senior positions and shadowed meeting and calls. Also completed an individual project in quieter periods when my mentors were busy.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Highly valued - everyone was happy to help and answer any questions I had. Everyone I met was very friendly and approachable and were happy to talk about their roles with me and the projects they are working on. My mentor was very busy so wasn't able to give a lot of time but I appreciated that she had a lot of demand for her time. However the time that I did spend with her was very insightful.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The support was always available from day one. From the first day my buddy explained everything to me, who I would meet, help me to set up any calls I needed to attend via Skype, where I needed to go. She was always available to reach out to. I also received support from my mentor in that she was happy to explain everything to me in very simple terms and introduce me to everyone she held meetings with,

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Through this placement I've developed confidence in my abilities as has the network I've built. I don't think I've developed any skills that are directly related to my degree but had definitely provided clarity as to the career path I want to pursue. I've also witnessed knowledge from my studies being applied to the advisory projects being carried which was very interesting.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Some core tasks were structured into the week such as the induction, networking call, lunches and counselling call. However I think what I would be doing for the day was largely depended on the schedule of who I was shadowing but again I appreciate that these are very busy women with hectic schedules.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Very friendly atmosphere as mentioned before. Everyone was happy to help, answer any questions I had and overall provide me with work to do as well as tell me about their career journeys. Right through to partner level, everyone I met was approachable and willing to help, go out for coffee etc.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There wasn't any specific training as such since this was only 1 week. But again the investment in us was apparent as 1) this was a paid opportunity and 2) the opportunity to shadow very experienced women in senior positions who were clearly very busy. So the effort gone into the co-ordination and getting everyone's diaries aligned has to be appreciated.
