About You
I found the insight programme at Deutsche Bank to be a very enjoyable and valuable experience. It was targeted at our personal development and learning, and it was clear to see how much time, money and effort had been invested in the programme, ensuring we got the most out of the week.
It was honestly very surprising as to how quickly I connected with people and everyone started to feel like a family. It may just be because the HR helped to create a very warm, positive and friendly atmosphere but also all the participants themselves were super nice, respectful and just generally very lovely people that I will keep in touch for a long time.
There was a great amount of support given to us as students. The desk-shadowing was an amazing experience that let the employees give us great guidance and tips. We were supported throughout. We were also given plenty of guidance on how to travel to different locations over the week. We were also given a voucher for lunch too.
The information and skills I received over the course of the week will prove to be incredibly beneficial for my studies, career and personal development. This was a great chance to develop my skills, with multiple opportunities to take part in many activities that proved to be incredibly helpful. The insight you gain from how the bank operates, and why it undertakes the activities it does really develop your understanding of the industry.
The Company
The programme is really well-structured. We were given the learning materials a few weeks before the programme started. For the first few days, we were given the presentations to know basic knowledge required and the overview of the company as a whole. Then through work shadowing, we were able to know what division we would like to work in the future.
The atmosphere was the perfect balance of professional and casual, creating a great learning and networking environment. Over the last couple of days, the atmosphere naturally became slightly more tense as the assessed sections began to loom and divisional preferences had to be made; however, the atmosphere was still rather relaxed and we all seemed to enjoy every day.
It was evident just how much time, effort and money had been invested into this insight programme and into our personal development. There was a specific Early Careers team dedicated to ensuring this programme was the best it could be and that we got the most out of it. Personally, I felt that I developed a lot from this programme.
The desk-shadowing was a great insight into what it was like to have a full time role at the company. The company prides itself on being highly adaptive with new technologies and offer a great work life balance to employees within DB. There are plenty of opportunities for promotion and learning within DB.
The insight week provided us a good chance to understand more about the company culture. Talking to the many employees over the course of the week in their offices and at networking events really allowed us to see the types of people that work at the firm. It was incredible to see that so many people provided us with their time and invested so much into us. A great diverse firm, with a very relaxed but hardworking culture.
This insight was really valuable in helping to determine a future career path as it provided a comprehensive overview of the banking sector as well as the different divisions and departments that make up the bank. This provided a clearer indication of where my skills may be best placed and where my interests lie.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed accommodation and travel expenses occurred as part of this insight.
There were many opportunities given to network with the employees of the company. We were able to network during the work shadowing in 5 different divisions and there were many company presentations and panels after which we could chat with the people. We even had the opportunity to network with more senior members of staff.
I found all of the networking and social events on this insight to be really enjoyable!
Yes, I found out about different activities by talking to members of staff.
I would absolutely recommend this insight to a friend! It was a great opportunity.
