    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my placement - each day was different and the range of skills I have picked up are amazing. I have learnt so much and my confidence has been really boosted. I would recommend working for Siemens to anyone and as a company they really push for your development.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My team and department have been so supportive in every project I have worked on and really feel that they value my opinion and ideas. Everyone is so welcoming and getting to know different individuals has been really exciting - having a close relationship with your manager is also important and at Siemens you really get that.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given the chance to work at different departments and different projects - I was based in the Reward and Policy team and within the first month I had the opportunity to work in Talent Acquisition on one of their larger events because I showed interest. My Manager really supported me in all my university work and was always willing to give study leave to make sure that I was never too stressed.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Throughout most of my placement I was busy, but at a nice pace that I never felt overworked or too quiet. Its important to be proactive however and If i did feel I was going quiet, I make the effort to consciously go and ask for some more work. A few times I felt that all my deadlines were coming in at once, however having flexible hours aloud me to work later if necessary.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • At the beginning you spend alot of your time learning and taking everything on board, however these last few months I feel a high level of responsibility and that my opinion is really valued. I didnt even feel like an idea was a "silly idea" and you really are given the chance to take projects under your own wing and complete them how you wish.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Confidence, technical, Networking, communication, business professionalism and transferable. Doing an internship for Siemens has been the best thing that i have done and has really given me skills for life. Its made me feel better about graduating next year and think it will really support me in my last year of studies.

  • Having the luxury to work from home was great - most Friday's I worked from home which was really nice way to wind down to the weekend. Some days it can be really quiet however it was nice to have other interns that came in also, so that you are never on your own.
