    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • There were some projects which it was fantastic to get involved in, and you could really add your own twist and use your input to see results in the business. However, there were times were it felt you were not being supported in your development and were being asked almost too much of, not being a permanent member of staff.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The culture can vary between teams significantly. Some people were fantastic to work with, while others did not inspire you and made you feel as though you could be a bit of a burden. Generally though I believe people meant well.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The guidance and support varied through the year. Sometimes when I tried to pass back work this didn't happen, which did make me feel overwhelmed. However there are also great structures in place to keep in touch with your managers, but lots of this needs to come from their motivation too.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The nature of the work can vary a lot, some weeks can be hectic while others not so much so which can be tricky to adjust to.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was definitely given the chance to run projects of my own, particularly things I was interested in.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have definitely learnt a lot about how I work best, would like to be managed and how to structure my schedules which can only be invaluable in the future.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was quite stifling on occasion, which did not inspire or particularly motivate me.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • They clearly do have a structure in place, from EDMs to reviews and projects. However lots of the things in between must be led by your manager, which means internships can vary within the same company.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company were generous with their time and resources to enable me to go to training, learn new skills and also network with others to develop myself.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    National Travel

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I do not see myself joining as a graduate - this may change in several years but I don't currently think it is the company for me.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • It was middling - it could have been better but could have been much worse too

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It was moderately expensive, but this was never a severe inhibitor.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nearly non existent

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The company was very good at putting on charity events and sports events which all drew in people to come together outside of work.

    5/5
