    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really valuable insight into the corporate envirnoment. You’re treated the same as any other employee there, which is refreshing, but it can be stressful as you are expected to carry your weight just as everyone else is.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • You are treated as a full employee by both your colleagues and your manager, however the role of interns can vary quite significantly. As a result, sometimes the achievements of interns can be overshadowed by those of the full time employees.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Excellent training and support, honestly couldn’t fault it. Felt like if I ever had a problem everyone, no matter who they were, would stop what they were doing to help me.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The long hours of the placement (8.30-6) and the heavy workload did mean the days flew by. As I was busy, the days went quickly, but because of this it ended up being quite stressful at times, and often ended up bringing work home.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As I mentioned before, you’re treated as a full member of staff so you are responsible for your own workload - and any failings you are expect to answer for them (not in a bad way, it just helps you learn to take responsibility)

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Helped immensely, definitely will be more disiciplined in final year studies. It’s also taught me more people skills, and how to be more confident as an individual, so they’re something that will stick with me for life.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Definitely an atmosphere of work hard play hard, and everyone’s personalities are very similar so it was such a fun place to work.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Although the inital training was there, and the support was constant, it was a bit disjointed after about 6 months in - but that was because of specific circumstances surrounding my placement, plenty of other interns have raved about the set up.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Excellent training and investment, felt like they were really trying to invest in me to work for them in the future.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It’s an excellent place to work, and if you work hard you will be rewarded very well.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Excellent social scene - like I’ve said before it’s definitely a culture of work hard play even harder, with plenty of work nights out and events organised.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Manchester City centre is quite expensive, and the rent’s quite high. On an intern’s wage it’s not like you can go out every night, but you can definitely go out once or twice and not have to fully budget for it!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Really good and fun, quite a student scene so I felt like I fitted in well.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • More so drinking after work than other events, but people would be up for it if you got it organised yourself.

    3/5
