    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed the practical working side and the ability to develop some key employable skills. Overall it was a positive experience.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I worked with a great team for the duration of my placement which proved key to the enjoying the year and also to making sure the business was run effectively.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I worked under a manager that was very good at what he was doing and therefore it was very useful for me to observe this and hopefully use what I have seen to enhance my final year of study. I felt supported and comfortable with all my branches employees.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • We were consistently busy which in turn kept me busy. There were only a handful of days that I experienced slower business and those days were used to keep up to date with our more administrative work.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I felt happy with the level of responsibility I had during my placement, I had days where I was given the chance to manage the office and would also be given set responsibilities that kept me busy and improved my knowledge of the company.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As this was a management trainee placement it will prove to be very helpful in my degree studies and also gave me the chance to use some of the things I had already looked into at university and put it into a practical business environment.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the branch was generally very positive. There were days when you would be very busy and it meant everyone was just on autopilot getting on with their responsibilities to make sure we kept customers happy. But the majority of the time it was a supportive and happy office.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There was a clear training process and development programme set up within the company to make sure you left the year with a better understanding of the company. We had regular training days throughout the year to ensure this knowledge and process was being followed.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As a whole I would say it has been a good experience in regards to the company investing within me to make sure I have developed as a person throughout the year. With a clear training procedure and the ability to see where you can progress in the future within the company, you feel as though the company want to invest in you to eventually build a career.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are clear avenues set out within the company that show where you are able to progress your career. It has a culture of employing from within and getting employees to work their way through the training programme with a clear goal of what they can achieve.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a good social scene among placement student and with the company as a whole. You meet a lot of people while working for the company and are able to use this to build connections. The company also put on social events outside of work as a way of giving back to the empoyees.

    4/5

  • I lived at home during the year and so therefore the cost of living was minimal.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were opportunities to get involved in charitable events run by the company, other than this I was not aware of many more opportunities. I play sport so was busy with that most of the time outside of work
