    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement at Intel due to the amount of responsibly I was given from the very start and how welcoming and willing everyone is to help you. The office itself is not very corporate there is no 'business dress code' which makes it easy to intergrade into the office.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my whole team as they relied on me to do vital things, this depends on how willing you are to help and how much you are willing to get involved with different projects. Everyone is very helpful when it comes to personal development.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support I received was amazing, my team always pushed me to do more and get involved with a range of different projects that I had expressed an interest in. My manager and I worked on my personal development plan to ensure I was doing what I wanted to be doing during my placement.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I always had things to do I never felt like I was sitting around waiting for people to give me work and if I was a bit light for work managers are more than happy for you to reach out and let them know. This depends on what work you want to be doing and how much work you want to be doing on a daily basis.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a huge amount of responsibly from the get go. Throughout my placement as I got to know my role better this only increased and I was given more responsibility in various projects. Managers are very pro interns owning their own projects and doing their own work that has an impact.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Doing my placement at Intel has made me see the different aspects of the business world so now I know what direction I want to go into after university. The skills that I have learnt on my placement I will now be able to take back to university and apply in theory.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There is always someone around if you need help with anything or have any questions. As there is a 'business casual' code this makes it easy to integrate and is not intimidating when you first start as an intern. There are also lots of other interns and grads always around.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There was a lot of communication before you start and when you start as an intern the first 6 weeks are a handover period where the intern that previously had your job teaches you how to do it. Throughout your placement there is constant communication with your manager and team as well as your on the job coach if you need it.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There is a lot of training available online such as excel training but when you first start you have training on all of the internal programs as well as presentation training etc. if there is ever anything that you feel you need to be trained on Inter will either show you were to get it or provide some.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Financial Bonus

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • 3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There is a huge social scene amongst the inters as there are so many of us. There are also a lot of grads so there is always something happening, the inters also have social committee that plan social events that all the interns can attend such as themed nights out etc.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Swindon is very cheap to live in, rent is very cheap and going out is the same. The train station also runs to London, Bristol, Bath etc. so it is easy to go to other places if needed. As there are a lot of interns there are planned social events as well as nights out in Swindon.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
