The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement, i was rotated after 6 months (my request to move) and this enabled me to learn more about the company and how my roles fitted within the company. I have had a great experience and great teams
Colleagues treated me like a normal employee, and gave me support, help and guidance where needed. I felt no different than all of my team, which i think is key for a placement student in order to understand the role that you could be going into.
Lots of support is given if you ask! If you are not open with managers/mentors, they will not know if you need help. They are there to help and will help if you go to them
The placement role does vary, however i was doing the same work that would be given to a Grad, therefore normal working hours as the rest of the team
Placement students are given responsibility and if asked, more will be given if you are competent. There is no holding back and if managers believe you can manage and complete the task, they will trust you with items.
I have learnt a LOT about the financial industry, and i believe alongside the knowledge i have learnt about the market, but also the skills in a working environment e.g. prioritization and organisation will help in my final year
The Company
The offices are full of excitement, the role is very busy and the team is very friendly orientated, the atmosphere was great!
The placement was organised well, except for some items to take a while, for example to organise my rotation and submitting my university diploma work through HR.
The company does not restrict you because you are in a placement in terms of training. They encourage you to go on training courses and develop your skills as much as you can!

while i am unsure if i will be accepted back, a placement/grad job is a great way to 'test' if a) you like the company and the role and b) if the company like you. I would recommend a internship to anyone
The Culture
While all the summer interns and placements students are together in the summer, there are lots of social events, however this does die down after the summers leave and the placement students are left
While i was lucky as my family home is in London, it is expensive to live in central London (although most placement student get a place further out and travel in).
there are lots of places to go out with work! Its a great area to work in as there are tons of options: mini gold, darts, pubs/clubs
The firm offers lots of opportunities - grab them! I was fortunate enough to join the Softball team - which play once a week after work (there are many other clubs), and completed a 8 week coding course!
