    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my time at Vauxhall and I felt that I have developed so much! It was definitely great opportunity to experience real life business that is worth much more than theory learned at University. Vauxhall provided me with multiple opportunities to grow personally and professionally. Do not hesitate to apply!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The atmosphere is one of the best things in Vauxhall. Working in PR department I felt supported and valued by all team members. They were so kind and encouraging. I even got a chance to do two work experience weeks in external agencies that we are working with. Such environment was one of the key factors why I so enjoyed my placement .

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Whereas everyone is very caring at Vauxhall, the workloads of my managers were so intense that sometimes they would not even have a spare minute to explain things. Because of that I needed to do a bit more research and take my own initiative . This was perplexing at times but definitely stretching and useful

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Mostly, I was busy with just a right amount of work to make the day fly by. Majority of my work was not that time sensitive, so I had some discretion of how I organize things. It was brilliant in a sense that it taught me to effectively organize my time and helped to develop excellent prioritization manner

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Whilst in the first half of the placement I did not have so much responsibility, in the second half I assumed a new role. This meant that I was involved with things where key people of Vauxhall were participating as well. I was given so much responsibility and was allowed to think my own ways of presenting information

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Firstly, the responsibility given and support that I have received increased in boosted confidence in a professional environment. Secondly, I learned to really appreciate the attention to detail which is so key in business environment! In addition to that I observed many great employees and understood what it take to progress in career.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I believe that people in the office are friendly and hard working. They tend to be very focused on their job when it gets busy, thus it is better not to disturb them then, but apart from that they are nice, understanding and kind to interns. You don't need to make coffee/tea for anyone just because you are an intern

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organization of the placement was good with an extensive support whilst searching for an accommodation which was so handy! During the handover we had loads of fun things to do together which allowed to bond together more. The CAP reviews and other placement coordination were great and we have received a regular communications from HR regarding any important things

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Despite cost savings, my managers provided me with a multiple opportunities to develop. Most notably, I had such an amazing time interning two of our external agencies during my placement year. I also got a chance to attend an award ceremony in Scotland which was very fun and good for networking

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am afraid but the company does not have a graduate scheme which is a bit pity. I believe that there are several previous undergraduates who returned upon their placement but that is only a tiny fraction from the total number of students that have spent their placement year at Vauxhall

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The communications department and a few students were very active in organizing activities for interns which was nice but I not always had a chance to take part in so could not comment a lot. Apart from that I believe that there were enough opportunities to do something fun with other interns if wanted

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Luton area is very cheap compared to places like London. It is situated well as the airport and capital of Great Britain is not far at all. In the town everything is walkable distance and the prices of food and drinks are friendly. The only minus is that Uber recently raised the tariffs in the area

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I am not really into clubbing so cant really say much about it

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • CSR days were great as well as helping to organize events

    4/5
