    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • the placement allowed me to further many skills, such as excel, communication, meeting deadlines. i have become more confident as a person and can now easily adapt to working in a business environment. the work i completed was challenging which has helped push me to achieve as much as i could whilst on placement

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Colleagues were very friendly and were always there for you if you ever needed help. when i first started the team had a dinner out, which allowed me to get to know everyone in an informal environment and build lasting relationships with everyone. i also had a buddy for if i ever needed to talk to anyone about something

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • i had work instructions that i could follow`

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • the role was very demanding and i always had work to do. some days i stayed later at work to make sure that my tasks were completed. i liked the idea that i was always busy as the working days went faster than if i were to have nothing to do, although sometimes i felt i had too much work.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • i was given my own tasks to lead, which was a great experience

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • the skills i have gained will be invaluable for later life. particularly my people skills

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • the atmosphere was what you would expect in an office. times where people would chat, but then times where we all go on with our work. everyone was really friendly and caring for each other which is really nice. it felt like it was one big working family at times.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • i feel that the placement was set up fine, could have been better, but overall i was satisfied. i was trained by the previous placement student for a month before they left which was good. although when they left i struggled at the beginning as my manager wasn't as engaged as he could have been.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • the company provided four days of training with other placement students

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Financial Bonus

    Working from home

    Healthcare/Dental

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • there are many opportunities for graduate roles within the company. not at the site i currently work at though. so if i were to apply for a graduate role i would need to move to the midlands for it. i would definitely consider taking up a graduate role at Cummins if i were to be offered one.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • some students lived together whilst working. there were group chats and various events were organised. e.g. going to the cinema, going on nights out. at times it felt like being back at uni, just with the Monday to Friday job. some placement students even went on holiday for a long weekend with each other.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • its the south east, not the most expensive, but not the cheapest either

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • the actual nightlife in the area was very limited, although Ramsgate has the largest spoons in the UK, so if you like the pub then you are fine. Canterbury is only a 20-30 minute drive where there are lots of clubs and bars as well as there being a uni there too.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • there are various sports clubs that you can get involved in. As well as days out such as going to Bruge for the day. i know there is a sports and social club that host events. there was a casino night as well as trips to London all year round

    4/5
