    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my placement thoroughly. I enjoyed the working environment and working within my team to achieve an outcome. I enjoyed the buzz of recruitment and the fact that everyday was different. I think I will take many skills from this placement with me to future jobs that I may have.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All of my colleagues in my team made me feel valued. We often bonded over team lunches and team night out so we were quite close knit. On the job trainees would often ask me for help and my manager would trust me to give them advise and would often trust in me with tasks that mean a lot to the business.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager gave me constant support and guidance throughout my placement. I also attended a 3 day training course in London at the beginning of the year. I received system training and on the job training. Any queries or questions I have the managers of the business are happy to help.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Everyday is different in the job, some days you will have a mountain to climb and some days are quiet however I enjoy it either way. By the second half of the year I was working on my own initiative creating my own tasks to do therefore I was able to manage my work accordingly.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was mainly assisting a director in running her desk and helping out the rest of the team when I could to cover sickness or holidays. I was trusted to run the desk when the director was on annual leave and I was trusted to fill a few jobs by myself.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think I will take the skills learnt in this placement with me for the future. Not just in terms of personal attributes such as working with professional manner and in a team. I will take the use of CRM systems and database management systems back with me to university and to my future jobs.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • We are in an open plan office. The atmosphere is very friendly and it is good to have people sitting so close to you coming in as a new person so that you are surrounded with people that can help if a problem arises and people are happy to do so.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My placement was well-organised, they were flexible in terms of annual leave however in terms of official and on the job training it worked well. They scheduled 12 week and 6 month reviews which were carried out accordingly and showed clear plans of what was done and what needs to be done.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I received training in London which Hays paid for my flight, accommodation and food allowances. This was a 3 day course. Also we received training in our office from our directors and senior managers on various modules. We also had a e-learning system which we had to complete with tests at the end.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We tried to get a team night out at least once a month, we succeeded in most months. We often ate lunch together as a team on special occasion and done some team building exercises such as We Are Vertigo and dinners. Within our team we would usually eat lunch together or spend lunch together everyday.
