    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed getting to see all the different departments. I was able to speak to different people because it was a relatively small office and see what each department did on a day-to-day basis. Everyone was very welcoming and made me feel very included in the tasks assigned to me.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • To an extent I did feel valued because people did come up and ask me to do a variety of tasks so I felt trusted. However, I was only there for a week so I didn't have anything too exciting to do because I would be leaving. Everyone made me feel valued for the time I was there.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The runners team looked after me and showed me what to do. This was good because it meant after the first day I was able to do things on my own which made me feel more independent. Also the heads of office introduced me to other departments that were willing to speak to me about the departments I was interested in i.e. marketing and legal.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have definitely drawn upon my experience at Lionsgate and been able to use it to answer questions on future job applications. This is because I was exposed to an office environment and the practicalities of the business because I would not get exposed to see in my degree often.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • There wasn't a clear structure pursue. It was clear who would be looking after me and giving me tasks however as a business there is not a clear structure for anyone. There's always a different project or event or film coming up so it wouldn't be easy to have a clear structure.

    2/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • I loved it. There were some points of the day where there was little to do. Overall, I felt very welcomed by the teams and everyone took the time to help me out, give me tasks and get to know me. I would definitely recommend for someone interested in film to apply.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They didn't really give me much personal training because I was helping the runners so there wasn't much training needed. It was good to get an insight into how the office ran and this allowed for me to develop skills on the job rather than traditional training. I was not there long enough to be 'invested' in.

    2/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • To a great extent. This is because I was doing the exact jobs that entry level people would be doing and that is normally how a person of my skills and qualifications would get into the firm. I believe I would have been doing those exact jobs if I had a full time role.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • A lot. I saw every department and was always informed on what was going on around the company. While I was there there was an upcoming premiere happening the following week and it was clear which departments were heavily involved in this. While other departments had a lighter week because of that.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very valuable because it gave me an insight into a less traditional career path. When people think 'film' they normally automatically assume production rather than distribution. I loved the distribution side because I like the promotion that comes with releasing a big film. It definitely showed me that I should follow down that path if the opportunities arose.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • The company gave me money for lunches and travel expenses which was very good. They have interns coming in every single week so it would not be feasible so I was very grateful to even get expenses. It made the experience more viable for me because I was able to take a week out of paid work.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There was no actual event of networking however the offices were very open plan and everyone interacted. I was also situated in the post room which is the 'hub' where different people from all over the office will come in and say Hi. They also sent round an email at the start of the week with my photo to introduce me which was nice.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • N/A As pointed out above there was no event to comment on.

    1/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Not overly except from hearing general chat around the office. The runners told me that they were going on a pub quiz as a group during the week. There was also a buzz around the office about the upcoming premiere that most people were attending so people to meet outside the company.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I definitely would, even if it was just to get experience in an office environment because most employers do ask if you have such experience. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and if I had any problems they would have been sorted. It was a great insight because of the variety in the departments that I got to see.
