    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my time working at Enterprise. I took part in an internship as part of my 3rd year of a Business and Management degree in DIT Aungier Street and loved it so much that I decided to continue working there during 4th year, and still do.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everything in Enterprise is done with teamwork in mind. There are elements of your daily work that is done individually, where you must take responsibility for your own actions but it was all done with your teams best interest in mind. Each member of the team encourage one another and provided training and tips on how to improve at the job.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Branch managers and assistants managers in Enterprise are some of the most important people for providing you with the support and guidance you need to progress at the job. They constantly kept you informed with ways to improve in areas you were falling down in or needed improvement and praised you for good work. This training happened on a daily basis and benefitted me hugely.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was working in the busiest Home-city (non-airport) branch in Ireland and so at times the work-load could become challenging, but never so much that I couldn't handle. When taking part in an internship I think it definitely benefitted me working in a busy branch as I got to experience what a tough day at work is all about. I have definitely come out with valuable experience.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Managers at Enterprise provided comprehensive training for the work we would be carrying out on a daily basis. Some aspects of the work which are specific to particular circumstances can be difficult to train for, which is where managerial staff and peer advice came in. We were each given responsibility for performing certain tasks each day and when I was more experienced towards the end of my first 6 months at Enterprise, I was given the chance to organise the plan for the day. I really appreciated the vote of confidence from my manager.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • A management-trainee position at Enterprise provides you with an experience in lots of different areas of business, such as marketing, human resources, and financial management. The responsibility I was awarded and the emphasis placed on working as part of a team definitely benefitted me in my 4th year in college where I had to take ownership of completing a dissertation, as well as completing numerous group continuous assessments.

We had tough days but everyone got along so well that most of the time it didn't seem like we were working at all.
