    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight was perfectly organised. We had work-shadowing, technical skills, presentation skills and personal skills workshops. Also the best part was the Final Project which we presented in front of senior management and made me feel highly appreciated by the company. The best time I had was during the work-shadowing, the business representatives devoted their entire day to us which was truly amazing.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • We were valued by both recruitment representatives and business representatives. On networking sessions they really showed interest in us. During the work-shadowing they took us to some meetings and then left a few hours so we could ask every single question on our mind. Moreover they had the time to prepare with us the final project and then watch the presentation.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We had two mentors per group of 5-6 people. Which was enough. Moreover, everybody gave us business cards for any additional questions.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The presentation skills will be highly useful. I also obtained some technical knowledge which will be useful in my finance modules. Apart from that I developed my intelectual curiosity and now at university I ask twice as many questions as before. Apart from that the personal brand workshop was not only funny, but made me think about many elements of my behaviour and I try to correct some of them.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured, Probably the only negative aspect was travel. We constantly moved from one office to another which made me really tired. Also the hours some days were a bit intense.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Very friendly and professional

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • People who gave workshops were representatives from professional training firms. It was obvious JP had invested a lot both money and time. The first day we had some Fitch learning- how to read financial times and then some basic finance lecture which combined in two hours things that I have studied at University for two years.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It is hard to get this insight when you are not working there. So I do not think it is actually possible for a spring week to give this insight. But the spring week was designed to give us as much as possible. We attended morning meeting and work-shadowed many people.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Again this is hard thing to do for a five days long insight. Opposite to other companies there were no presentations about what is JP Morgan's culture. However, I would prefer not having them as the culture is something you actually have to feel and is not possible to be taught.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was good that we had one day in asset management and one in wealth. I could actually see the huge difference between both jobs. The design of JP Morgan's week is that you choose which division you want to go to on applying. Probably some time spent on overviews of every line of business on the first day would be useful.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Talking about reimbursement policy there is no other company like JP Morgan. They covered my flight from Bulgaria and I only had to call them. This is very different in other companies where you have to pay it yourself and then claim expenses in order to receive them two months after.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were a couple of networking events. However the best way to get to know business representatives was from the work-shadowing session. When you start with your mentor they will introduce you to a lot of people from their divisions or even some other depending on what you are interested in. Everybody was happy to give business card which was not the case in another bank I went to for a spring insight.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They were quite good although I personally find it a little bit hard to have lunch standing and talking to people.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We were told about the networks at JP but no huge attention was given to that. We were introduced to the volunteering activities they do.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I definetely would
