The Role
I loved my internship at P&G. I was due to complete a 12 month IT internship in Newcastle. As I had already graduated I was looking to secure a full time position and the only way I could do that was by completing the internship. I was rolled over to a full time position after 3 months.
The P&G people are the reason why I loved my internship and one of the big reasons as to why I chose to take a full time position. Everyone's opinion is valued whether you have been in the company 1 month or 10 years.
My manager was excellent and someone who I respect very much. She gave me the right level of support. She knew when I needed support and when I should be left to figure things out for myself.
From day one I hit the ground running with real projects that impacted the business. I was managing an agile scrum team, so I met daily with the team and the business partners. When I was interacting with my team and managing daily tasks, I was completing training. Some of which was online on the Salesforce website and some of which in face to face training sessions.
I was responsible for managing a remote agile team. We were deploying a new instance of SalesForce CRM for our Australian Specialist Sales team. I was responsible for improving UX as well as gathering feedback from the Sales team to improve the functionality.
The skills I learnt during my internship have helped me to develop as both a leader and an IT professional. The on the job training has enabled me to excel in my full time position at P&G.
The Company
The atmosphere is great. The people are lovely and friendly. Everyone is always up for a chat and coffee when you need to talk through an idea!
The set up of the internship was well organised. The program leads checked in with us regularly to ensure we were getting the support we needed from our coaches and mentors.
The company heavily invest in their interns providing them with the necessary training to do their job. An intern online training platform which has 1000's of training courses, monthly one to one training for all as well as access to LinkedIn learning.

They were extremely appealing to me from day one. That I why I accepted a full time position at P&G as soon as it became available.
The Culture
Yes - great! Not only are there other interns to socialise with and share knowledge with. There is a very young crowd in the Newcastle office that like to go out and explore Newcastle night life and the culture.
Newcastle is one of the cheapest places to live in the country - cheap rent, cheap food, cheap transport and cheap alcohol!
Newcastle is amazing!!!
Yes there is a sports and social club which any employee can join. The intern program also organise social events for a chance to see the city and mingle with the other interns.
