    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I loved my internship at P&G. I was due to complete a 12 month IT internship in Newcastle. As I had already graduated I was looking to secure a full time position and the only way I could do that was by completing the internship. I was rolled over to a full time position after 3 months.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The P&G people are the reason why I loved my internship and one of the big reasons as to why I chose to take a full time position. Everyone's opinion is valued whether you have been in the company 1 month or 10 years.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was excellent and someone who I respect very much. She gave me the right level of support. She knew when I needed support and when I should be left to figure things out for myself.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • From day one I hit the ground running with real projects that impacted the business. I was managing an agile scrum team, so I met daily with the team and the business partners. When I was interacting with my team and managing daily tasks, I was completing training. Some of which was online on the Salesforce website and some of which in face to face training sessions.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was responsible for managing a remote agile team. We were deploying a new instance of SalesForce CRM for our Australian Specialist Sales team. I was responsible for improving UX as well as gathering feedback from the Sales team to improve the functionality.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I learnt during my internship have helped me to develop as both a leader and an IT professional. The on the job training has enabled me to excel in my full time position at P&G.
