    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed being able to shadow on different desk rotations and actually experience what it was like to work on the trading floor, as well as different projects we worked out, eg a presentation and a trading simulation workshop, this really gave me an insight as to what people actually do and how interesting it is.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I feel valued at all times - my days were packed and had a lot of events going on throughout the week. There were no time wasted at all during the week and every moment was planned. I felt very valued in both the time and money they invested in us.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Quite a lot, during the presentations we had to copmlete during the week, we were assigned mentors to help us and to guide us to the right directions, as well as asking them questions. Also, when shadowing the trading desks, we were also assigned mentors to tell us what is going on.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think all the things and skills i have learnt from the spring week will be very useful in my future career, both the techincal knowledge and the soft skills i have learnt, eg presentation skills. Also, having this first hand exposure and learning in depth about different divisions is very useful.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was structured well, with a balance of different activities and also presentations on the functions across the divisions - gave us a good insight of what it is like to work for them. The activities were very well-planned with a good balance between interactive activities and presentations and networking.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • good, everyone was very friendly and the HR were supportive. the networking events were enjoyable as well, with lots of food and peers. Everyone is very open to questions and it felt more like a social event than a formal networking event. it is a good environment to work in.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A great deal, in terms of both money, time and support. We were reimbursed for everything and lots of senior level directors spent a lot of time talking to us and giving presentations, as well as juniors to show us the different divisions. we had a few trainings on personal branding as well.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It was a lot of insight for a week - where i really got the chance to learn more about the job they do and their daily routines. but i think with a longer internship or more shadowing opportunities, this will be even more useful in showing us what it really is like.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • It helped quite a lot as we were able to talk to different people across different levels and everyone was very nice, supportive and friendly. The culture is generally very good and through the insight week, networking and shadowing we can also see how the colleagues interact amongst themselves, which is very important.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Quite valuable - it gave me a sense of what it would be like to work at the trading desk at JP morgan, as well the market knowledge people had. But I think with a longer placement or more shadowing opportunities this would have been more useful in deciding the future career path.

    3/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were lots of opportunities, and these were all during different events, where we could network with seniors, juniors, across different asset classes and even our peers which was great and balanced overall in terms of meeting and chatting with different people to learn more about the firm and their career

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They were really good, a mixture of different events to network with other people, from peers to seniors, from formal to informal events. The balance was great in terms of meeting friends and able to talk to senior directors to learn more about the firm. The setting was good too.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • yes definitely, i think it is a great way to learn more about the job and what it entails and gain insight into such a big corporate firm. Moreover, the opportunity to talk to different people within the firm is very valuable, and this has really helped with my decisions in the future paths.
