The Role
I had a great year working at Warner Bros. I think the uniqueness of the placements offered by Warner Bros creates a much more rewarding experience as you are the only person responsible for completing your tasks. Because of this it feels much more like a full time Job (which it is) then just an internship.
I felt very valued by everyone I worked with during my time at Warner Bros. All of the interns were welcomed into the WB Games team with open arms and included in any events or outings just like any other employees. I could also see where my work would go/be used so knew that I was not given any tasks just to keep me busy.
My Managers were very good at helping me improve my work towards the start of the internship which then allowed them to give me more tasks and responsibilities as I developed my skills throughout the year. I was also given support and guidance on my university work which was very helpful.
Working in a finance team meant that my daily tasks would vary depending on the time of month and working for a Games publisher meant that the workload would depend on when we were releasing games. As I became more competent at my job, I did find that tasks would become easier and quicker to complete and that sometimes I would have appreciated an increase workload.
This placement offered me lots of responsibility as I was the only person working my role and for some tasks I would be the only person who knew exactly how to complete them. I was also able to make changes to processes where I thought they could be improved so I had to make sure that any information produced using these new methods was correct.
The skills that I have learnt during my year at Warner Bros will definitely help me in my career and studies. I have learnt lots of practical skills within different computer programs such as excel and other accounting tools that I will be able to take to any future finance roles. I feel that I have improved my overall ability to focus and work to deadlines which will be invaluable when going back to university.
The Company
Warner Bros have a great internship program set up. I starts before you take on the role with a meet and greet for all the interns in May which is very useful when organizing housing etc. The placement is well structured with training sessions and you follow the employee appraisal system like any other employee.
Warner Bros invests a lot into training and development. The internship program includes a few group training sessions on various skills such as a MBTI evaluation. There are also many lunch and learn sessions available. And I had the opportunity to go to an offsite training session of my choosing (such as excel skills).

There is no formal graduate scheme. However the HR team will keep in contact about any vacancies that open up that you are qualified for and as a returning intern you may be viewed as more appealing than an external hire. Although you would also have the opportunity to find work through any contacts that you make while on the internship.
The Culture
There were 50 + interns and apprentices during my year at Warner Bros so there was always something going on socially. We would also arrange nights out for our department or even just the occasional drink after work. There was also a lot of interns moving to London so plenty of opportunities to socialize on weekends as well.
The Warner Bros offices are located in central London so the cost of socializing can be high but there are plenty of cheaper options as well. My living costs were around £600 per month for rent (with some money for bills on top) which I think was cheap for the area.
