    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • very informative, we had presentations from all aspects of the company to give a rounded view of what mace does and what our potential is for when we join mace. We had live project's site tours and visits to completed projects which gave us a change from being indoors, it was very informative.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued as not only were we told how much of a chance we have to join mace but also that they want people like us and there is a place for us. It was valuable to have constructive feedback so that we can build our professional skills too.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We were informed of what positions are available to us and, also, the potential that they saw in employees who are on the graduate programme currently. They told us how they are finding their time at mace and also gave us advise for starting out too. We had an opportunity to shadow a graduate which meant that we could ask questions one to one more comfortably.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The entire week was useful but it was very kind to be able to practise our interview skills and receive constructive feedback which shows mace want us to develop ourselves in time for our recruitment onto the graduate programme. We also practised an assessment centre group exercise which gave us all a chance to work as a team and get a feel for what it is like to work at mace in the future.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • There was a good balance of presentations/ question and answer sessions and site visits. It was a good balance of time in and out of the office. Back to back presentations can be very boring but I was very happy taking part in the presentations from mace foundation, the innovation and sustainability teams. They were very interesting and makes mace more appealing.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It was a friendly and professional manner. We shared ideas and motivated each other to get the best out of the week. mace and Callum prepared the week so that we broke the ice on the first day and built relationships throughout the week. I was happy to partake in everything throughout the week and eager to get in every day - I wish the experience as longer.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Professional skills practise: Interview and assessment centre Shadowing: we had a task to complete and the graduate talked us through our contributions.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It was very insightful and the best experience possible in the time frame.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I feel I took away a clear understanding of mace's culture and I want to be a part of it.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content over the week was extremely valuable to hear - from the employees currently on the graduate programme. It was a little overwhelming as all the graduates had nice things to say about their particular pathway making it difficult for us to choose which route in we want to take.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • We will be reimbursed for travel that we took as part of the programme (off site visits).

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes. On the last day we had lunch with current employees on their industrial placements and they cam from different sites to spend time with us and share their experiences in a more relaxed setting (with food). We were also welcomed by senior staff who encouraged us to add them on linked in if we had further questions. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] in particular was very friendly and gave us frank and honest advise.
