    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was a great experience. there was ample information given out and it was a very informative time at the bank. All interns were made to feel included and this programme gave us the opportunity to network with senior members of the firm which was a great experience, given that some of us were clueless about the industry.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The structure of the programme and the opportunities that we had to meet employees definitely showed the interns that we were valued by the company. It was evident that a lot of effort went into providing us with an insightful experience at the company. Human Capital Management were a great help and offered support and answered any questions we had along the way.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • All interns were encouraged to actively participate in the sessions we had and ask any many questions as possible to make the most out of our time there. Professionals we more than willing to answer questions and clear up any doubt. They were also very willing to speak about their experience at the firm and in their role.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The information I received was very helpful and has helped me get on the right track to prepare an application for the summer internship programme. I now know more about what JP are looking for in potential candidates and what the front office divisions are JP are like. I cannot apply the information I learnt to my degree as I study humanities, but I definitely feel more prepared career-wise.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • We were given an agenda on the first day which clearly laid out the events that we would be taking part in on the programme. There was always something to do and we also had the freedom in our own time to network and schedule appointments with people which was great.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was motivating and inspiring. The intern class was strong and friendly. The staff who gave presentations were engaging and energetic and were more than willing to answer questions at the end of their presentations and encourage discussion among the interns. The atmosphere also was not competitive, as you may find on other spring weeks and the interns were willing to share their knowledge and help others

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We were provided with lunch everyday of the programme and also snacks during breaks and also during networking events. It was evident that a lot of work went into making the programme interesting for us. Professionals of all levels took their time out of their day to come and present to us and also network with us which was helpful, as it allowed us to gain a deeper insight into the firm.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The work shadowing that we participated in was incredibly insightful. We were able to understand what goes on the trading floor and also find out about niche teams. So, the work shadowing was an opportuntiy for us to see what a full time role would be like. It also allowed us to form our own opinion on the work atmosphere too.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Seeing as we were able to participate in work shadowing, networking with professionals of all levels (analyst to MD) we got a real insight into the culture. Professionals, were more than willing to answer questions and offer us advice too. Overall, my opinion of the culture is that it is a warm and the structure in JP seems to relatively flat, and you input and ideas are valued.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content was extremely valuable as I will be applying to future opportunities at JP. HR explained the opportunities available and the application process to us in detail and encouraged us all to apply. The divisions that came to present to us were divisions that would take on summer interns, so we were able to see what we would be dealing with in that area.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was reimbursed travel expenses. Accommodation was also offered to some people but I live in London so I did not opt for that.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were ample opportunities to network with professionals, and I would say this was daily, however it was up the individual to take the initiative to build contacts. The networking opportunities were great. There were sometimes even more staff than interns so this allowed for a personal experience. They were also quite informal, which took the pressure off.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
