    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The Insight program was well-structured with various speakers. The speakers were heads off divisions and provided meaningful Insight. Reflected well on the firm to have bosses engaged with Insight Participants. The Trading simulation was a lot of fun, with many twists. Overall it’s an amazing insight into M&G Investments and the Asset Management

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Employees of the firm treat you with respect. Loved the friendliness and approachability of the current employees to openly discuss career aspirations and why M&G Investments is the perfect place to build a career. Firm provided us with unlimited drinks and snacks. M&G has a wonderful family culture. A firm made up of great people.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There wasn’t much scope for guidance to be given. The trading exercise was fun however it often felt very ambiguous at times but I suppose that’s the nature of the Industry. Staff was always open to discussions and openly encouraged us to ask questions. I received good support and guidance.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Apart from the understanding of the Asset Management Industry, there wasn’t any notable skills I developed that I hadn’t already developed through my degree. Key skills I worked on during the program were my analytical and time management skills, as we were required to work quickly in teams to analyze investment opportunities in a changing environment.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The Insight program was structured very well. We started the morning off with registration, Introductions and a guest speaker then jumped straight into the trading simulation. Took breaks throughout the day and had opportunities to network with current staff and ask questions about the firm. Overall very well organized and I would recommend it for anyone looking to gain an Insight into Asset Management.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere during the Insight reflected the atmosphere M&G is known for. That being having a friendly and collaborative culture. It was also nice to be surrounded by other students who share the same ambition and desire as yourself. It doesn’t have the backstabbing greedy reputation financial service firms are known to have.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The program was intended to provide an Insight into Asset Management and M&G Investments. It would’ve been more useful had there been a few participants potenatially fast-tracked to Summer Internships. The program is intended to recruit new talented employees from their first year. However for the purpose of this program not much training or development.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Had an opportunity to talk to current bosses and employees who have spent their entire careers at the firm which says a lot about the firms ability to retain and look after employees. Also had a discussion with a panel made up current graduates who answered all the questions we had.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Exposed to the family company culture. Many firms talk about having a Family culture, however M&G really live it. All my interactions with the various employees were friendly and great. The amount of effort the firm put into the Insight program also reflects greatly on the firm and shows that they’re serious about taking on students.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I definately learned a lot and took away a lot, however I still don’t think M&G really sold me into wanting to commit to Asset Management. However it still sounds like a great career option for those interested. You’ll definately learn a lot about the industry and firm in a day.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • We had the opportunity to network with senior officials that were very open and friendly - once again reflects on the great culture the firm has. We also had an opportunity to network with the current graduates on the graduate scheme and ask them questions about the different programs offered by M&G Investments.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • At times it felt very overwhelming because there weren’t enough employees to talk too and people would crowd them, making it slightly challenging to ask questions. However the employees were very open and encouraged people to ask questions and if they noticed that someone was quiet they tried to involve them in the conversation.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • The firm showed us clips of the various outreach and social upliftment (Environmental and Social Governance) programs they run which included showing us a hospital built in Liverpool and they stressed how much CSR the firm is involved in. However they did not really have the time to go through the various things you can do outside work.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • If you’re thinking of applying, just do it.
