    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • This experience was so enjoyable because not only has Barclays got a massive ammount of kind and helpful employees, they also selected some very down to earth and hard working interns that were such a pleasure to work alongside. We also had some very interactive sessions where I really enjoyed working with the group.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt incredibly welcomed because Barclays constantly emphasised the importance of networking and therefore all members of staff responsed very well to this. I also felt very welcomed by the two recruiters Dan and Riann. They made sure they explained each step of the week and also made us comfortable on day 1.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We received a huge ammount of guidane and support because every member of staff that ran a session ensured that there was enough time to incorprate questions. We also had the two recruiters Dan and Riann that were always there in any situation we needed them in. They helped us understand everything happening.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I improved by teamworking, presenting and arguing skills. I also strongly developed by understanding of the macroeconomic climate along with general elements of rational business behaviour. As an economics student this will benefit me largely. In the workplace i will certainly also use my ability to present and work in a team.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • We always had enough time to ask speakers questions and develop our understandings. We also had the perfect ammount of break periods to ensure we remained refreshed and able to partcipate to the best of our ability. I also felt lunch breaks were placed well to avoid having to sit through talks hungry.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • All members of staff and all interns really reflected barclays’ RISES values and this made everyone so lovely to be around. All interns were very committed to the work as they all strive for excellence and this made it a great place to do group work. But all people also largely adhere to the value of respect and therefore made sure everyone had their voice heard

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had speakers arrive from some of the highest areas in the firm, i therefore feel staff invested a great deal into us. We also had sessions based on coding that would have been very difficult to organise but Barclays still made this happen. There was certainly investment into us.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It helped a great deal because we always had chances to ask graduates and experiences staff members about their experiences. We also had a talk in which a relationship director explained exactly what a typical day is like for him. This was in addition to all staff members explaining their roles.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very helpful. I was struggling to pick between two different areas: private baking and corporate banking. This decision was then made simple during the corporate banking talk where the role of the corporate banking division was explained very well and I saw it strongly aligned with my interests and hence I choose to apply to this area for summer 2019.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • We had a great deal of opportunities to meet and network with people working within Barclays. The quality of these networking opportunities was high because I was able to ask these people about their roles, about Barclays and also hear about their journies. This was very inspiring for me. I met great people
