    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It definitely exceeded expectations, it was a fantastic experience and I have a much greater idea what it would be like working at JP Morgan. The networking opportunities were very valuable, as well as the knowledge gained about the finance and business management department. It was made even more enjoyable by the social event at the Bat and Ball which was very fun!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • All workers treated us very well, and so did all those that we spoke to in the networking events, such as the summer interns. I felt extremely valued by the company, even despite being there for only 3 days. It felt as if JP Morgan was really investing in you as a person and wanted you to feel welcome.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • You were allowed to ask as many questions as you wanted, to anyone you wanted to talk to, so they provided full support and in fact encouraged you to seek help should you need it. There was never a moment where I felt out of my depth or that I did not know what I was doing.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I felt as if the work we did on the "personal brand" was a bit of a waste of time. However, the information on the CV, what JP Morgan looks for, the idea of giving the interviewer a choice of things to choose from, and the networking skills of breaking in and breaking out, were very important and skills I will use in the future for sure!

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Extremely clear from the get go. We knew what were doing at all times, and they really stuck to the timetable they provided on the first day. It was very action packed and entertaining. Everything was very well timed, and there was no sense of lack of coordination or communication.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • I've made some really good friends on the spring week, everyone was so friendly and easy to talk to. The atmosphere was positive, and it had a very good group feeling, there was no sense of isolation, and you felt as if you were very much part of the JP Morgan team.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Networking skills were invaluable. I only wish the spring week lasted longer, so that I could have a go myself at some of the work that needs to be done. But I guess that is what the summer internship is for next year!!

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • This knowledge is mainly attributed to the work shadowing we did on the last day. The two people I worked with were very informative and friendly when showing what they did on a day to day basis and showing me around their working environment. Their honesty and integrity gave me a very good idea of what it would be like working there.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • They really pushed the JP Morgan culture. I learned that JP Morgan encourages those in the younger years to be active in terms their approach to networking and asking questions. I also learned that they value you to gain skills in different areas through persistence. The values of acting with integrity and a winning culture really showed throughout the week.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I can't say for sure that I will definitely be going for a finance role in the future as it is still early days, but that's not to say that the spring week as made me strongly inclined into applying for the summer internship and look for the grad scheme when I finish university. One thing is for sure though, and that is JP Morgan is the firm that I want to work for whether that be in finance or elsewhere.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • They gave us this opportunity every day. Networking with the summer interns, the junior graduates, the VP's, executive directors, the programme coordinators, and of course my spring week compatriots. I felt as if the speed networking on the final day was a really enjoyable experience as it was a little different to the others as you only had 15 minutes, but the good thing is that I met more people than what I would have otherwise. Also, I was lucky enough to be by myself in both my work shadowing opportunities, so that was a major networking opportunity in itself.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • As I have already spoken about the networking I will focus on the Bat and Ball social event on the Wednesday night. It was such a fun experience, getting to know my spring week compatriots in a much more informal setting, and winning a few games of ping pong simultaneously! The food and drink variety was great and despite not being in the hotel, like the others, it was a very a good location.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes we learned about philanthropy at JP Morgan, and the value you can add to society as an individual.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • This spring week fully exceeded all expectations I had and I can honestly say has been one of the best experiences of my life. It has been fun and informative, and has given me a really good insight as to what JP Morgan is like to work in. I would definitely recommend this insight to anyone.
