    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I throughly enjoyed the insight week, it was useful to have a mix of presentations, networking and having work experience to really get the most out of the week. I enjoyed being with my mentor on site valuations and also doing work in the office such as rent reviews. The most enjoyable moment for me was meeting people who work in Savills, learning more about the business and also making friends on the Insight programme!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt valued by my mentor and team during the week. I liked that I was set tasks to do and that it contributed and helped the team that I was in. The tasks were challenging however respective of my capabilities. Also I felt we were valued by the Insight programme to represent the brand of Savills.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The support given when being set tasks by my mentor were useful due to him being able to clearly give instructions of how to do the work, and then being approachable to ask questions about the task. Also the way the insight programme was set out with presentations, it supported my learning in the future and informed us of the divisions in Savills.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The Insight programme was informative of the divisions that Savills has. Also explaining more about the APC and how Savills through the graduate programme supports this and gives experience through six rotations. This information received was useful to be able to make decisions in the future and what pathway in property I would like to follow.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The Insight programme was well structured and kept to time, it also had places allocated which was very important for me as I was moving from the City office to Margarets Street allowed me enough time to get to the office but also there was enough time for me in the day to be with my mentor and gain experience there too.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere during the insight was upbeat and positive. Everyone either in the Insight programme or employees of Savills were enthusiastic and had great energy. It created a real feel of the business and how it works at Savills. The atmosphere created allowed us to feel comfortable and also encouraged us to be pro-active and ask questions about the business.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The insight programme, straight from the start highlighted how invested Savills were into their potential employees. They were all very welcoming and also provided many events for us to develop our own skills. Such as creating networking events where we improved our communication skills and being able to ask questions in presentations.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight programme was structured and allowed time for both events to take place but also time to shadow our mentors. My mentor allowed me to be responsible and complete tasks set independently and also I was very fortunate to go on many site visits in the week and complete inspections forms after.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Throughout the week, it allowed us to see the company culture of the business, that being a people business. Everyone working in the business is very friendly and sociable. The teams are often small and even though it is a corporate business it does not feel like you are a number.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content of the day was very useful as each day allowed us to be in a different presentations of a department, which showed us what their role was and case studies of how they performed their role. This was helpful in deciding what choice to make, however also made it more difficult as like more than one career path!

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • This work experience, allowed us to have £100 of expenses including travel, food and accommodation. It also allowed for us to be reimbursed when we attended site visits. Therefore being adequately reimbursed for the week for the Insight Programme.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, everyday I was meeting new people from the company from different positions and they often had different experiences into joining Savills. This provided a great opportunity to ask questions to employees of Savills through different occasions such as Networking drinks, being in the office or at presentations. Also the variety of people in different departments allowed a real insight into Savills.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking opportunities were useful for me to ask questions to graduates and how they were enjoying Savills and also ask their advice. Also the social event with the fee earners allowed us to speak to those higher up in the business with experience and how they felt Savills had changed and adapted to the property market and external changes.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, through the networking opportunities we were able to ask questions to a variety of graduates and fee earners who were able to share what their extra curricular activities in Savills were. Also through the presentation, it informed us on the sports that employees participate in.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, this insight is a great experience that I think everyone when given the chance should apply for. It is cleverly structured allowing time for both work experience and preseations that inform us on the divisions in Savills and what that department role performs. Which is very helpful when considering what property pathway you would like to follow.
