    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight was extremely well structured and set in terms of content for students at our level. It provided amazing networking opportunities with other like-minded interns, and exposure to very senior members of the bank. The learning experience was very personal as the sessions were essentially back and forth conversations between us and the member running the session; this provided a great opportunity to gain comprehensive insight into the topics set.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Literally every single staff member I spoke to, involved in the programme or not, were extremely polite and interested in us as individuals as well as the programme. They really made us feel part of the bank throughout the week, being introduced to all the members in our mentors' teams was really nice.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There was always more than one person on hand at any given time to help you with any queries, no matter how general or specific. If unable to answer a question, the staff would always refer and introduce you to the appropriate person who can help. The staff were all very polite and open with their experiences, and gave honest guidance which was really valuable. Also the speakers would often give extra time for us to take notes when they saw us doing so, which was really considerate.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The Infrastructure week gave a comprehensive insight into the structure of the bank and how all the different parts come together to provide the services. The spring week was everything I hoped it would be, reaffirming my intentions to pursue a career in banking and providing opportunities to see real work and what the experience of working in a bank is really like.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well structured, starting by introducing us to the bank and banking at a high level and then working towards more detailed explanation. This transition to more detail was done seamlessly, and at no point did I feel lost. If any of us had queries, the session leader would answer using great analogies in most cases; the ability for every staff member to explain concepts so well really impressed me.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was the perfect balance of professional and casual, creating a great learning and networking environment. Over the last couple of days, Wednesday and Thursday, the atmosphere naturally became slightly more tense as the assessed sections began to loom and divisional preferences had to be made; however, the atmosphere was still rather relaxed and we all seemed to enjoy every day.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The bank really invested a huge amount in all of us, not only through direct monetary terms, but also with time. We always had experienced staff guiding us through all the sessions, and never felt like we were being treated less than best. The senior management networking session was testament to this, as not many other senior bank members would invest that much time in university students; and it really showed the positive forward thinking in the bank.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Given the confidential nature of most of the work done in a bank, the insight provide the most exposure in all aspects that it was able to do. The work shadowing was especially valuable in understanding the work done in the given role and in the team within the department. It was great to see how friendly the guide's team members were, and it really showed the great environment the bank fostered.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Again, given the confidential nature of most of the work done in a bank, the insight provide the most exposure in all aspects that it was able to do. It was great to see how friendly the guide's team members were, and it really showed the great environment the bank fostered. The insight also held a session at the end which explored the values at Deutsche Bank and was a very helpful way of tying together all we had learned during the week and consolidating it.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The Infrastructure week gave a comprehensive insight into the structure of the bank and how all the different parts come together to provide the services. The spring week was everything I hoped it would be, reaffirming my intentions to pursue a career in banking and providing opportunities to see real work and what the experience of working in a bank is really like. The insight made me especially appreciate the culture at Deutsche Bank compared to other banks I have visited, and definitely makes it one of my most preferable places to have my career.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • The insight was unpaid, but the opportunity for reimbursements was provided.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were many, and they were all excellent: this has been answered in the previous answers.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking opportunities were excellent throughout the week with both the other students undertaking the spring week, as well as with the staff which we were introduced and given access to. It was great to meet staff members at almost all levels of seniority, giving a clear sense of how the work and responsibilities change as you become more senior.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • The employees were very open with their experiences outside of work, either through activities organised in work or completely separate activities. They spoke well of the positive social environment of the bank extending to the outside and giving them friends for life. They also spoke of the flexibility and understanding given for various life experiences.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would most definitely recommend this insight to friends who are eligible in future years. Having previously encouraged other friends in my year to apply for this cycle, too.
