    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I very highly enjoyed my week insight programme at Savills. I have extremely enjoyed my week and found It to be very beneficial to towards my career path, providing lots of experience and real world experience in industry. I would highly recommend this to any one looking for a career path in property.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Throughout my week I felt extremely valued. I was constantly being asked to help out with different tasks through out the day which reduced the work load for other employees. Everyone at the office treated me extremely nicely, were very friendly and I felt I could ask for help or advice at any point throughout the week.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received plenty of support during my time here. All staff members were happy to help, including those who were not in my department. Once a task was explained to me I was able to complete it with no issues, but always felt that I was able to ask for help at any point.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Not only will the skills and information i have learnt at savills help with my studies but they will also extremely benefit me throughout my career. I find that this week has helped me apply the knowledge I have learnt from my degree to the real world working environment, but also will also allow me to now to feed my studies with information and skills I have learnt.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The only negative I found throughout my week here is that i often lacked workload. However this may be due to the the nature of the company, as they may not see continual work and i also understand that more simple tasks will lack consistency so there may not always be tasks for me to complete. Despite this, Savills set up 'training' sessions for insight students to attend almost once a day. This was very structured.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was great. Everyone is happy, friendly and helpful. Staff at all levels including directors and the head of office were all equally as friendly and welcoming as other staff and i felt extremely relaxed and happy. , I have made great friends with many staff members and other insight students throughout the week and look forward to continuing my career with the Savills company.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Once a week the insight students had training to complete which was done either through the computer systems or the phone. This was done well. My mentor and other members of the team helped me and taught me a lot of useful information which will be extremely beneficial for me for now and the future.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The programme allowed me to understand very significantly what it would be like to work for Savills. This was done through the tasks set by me, introducing me to the software systems including email and calendars. It was also largely to do with over hearing other members of staff conversations and attending meetings.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Extremely helpful. It allowed me realise the type of experience that clients should experience and also the key selling points that Savills stride for. It also allowed me to realise what exactly Savills do, not just in my department but also other departments. Meetings with external people and clients also allowed this. `

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was extreamly helpful. (although i am still undecided on which exact path i am going to take it allowed me to understand in depth the Planning depart and what would be expected of me if i was employed by savills in this department. I will also try to gain experience within other departments so i am able to gain that information in those too.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I will be reimbursed expenses for travel, lunch and food as i had to get the train and the bus in. This is great as it allows people from all back grounds to attend this work experience and not be limited due to money, so it is inclusive for all.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes there was. I attended a meeting with a client. I also attended a meeting with Directors and other senior staff members. We also have staff drinks which allowed networking with other graduates and the other insight students. this was good as it allowed a more relaxed environment to ask questions.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They were good, it was meant to be just graduate students from across the departments who attended the drinks but it ended up being associates too. this was nice as you are able to talk to a range of different people and not just people our ages. Savills also covered the cost of this which was unexpected.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I was briefing informed at one of the lunches about this. I was also in a meeting which was discussing more ways that graduates can socialise with other graduates from different offices. Talks were about having a monthly meet up and cross the region sports matches. this is an attractive thing when looking for a graduate job.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • 100%. This has been extremely beneficial in all aspects and would definitely recommend this to a friend. I have had a good time in a work aspect but also enjoyed being here. Anyone with a desire to work within this industry i would recommend doing this as there are multiple path ways you can go down .
