About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the Spring Into Banking week at Deutsche Bank. The activities were diversified, the sessions were very informative, the networking sessions were productive and rich in food and drinks. I have learnt a great deal about the world of this financial firm. I would undoubtedly recommend this Spring Into Banking week to anyone.
I felt extremely valued during my time at the company, especially during the work shadows. All the senior members that I shadowed were extremely happy and patient in explaining us the concepts behind their systems and they did everything possible to make us feel comfortable (e.g. grabbing a coffee in the department store).
The amount of support and guidance I received during the Insight was higher than ever. The HR team was extremely pleasant and I felt I was always able to ask any question to them, regardless of its relevance. They were truly amazing in giving us instructions from one session to the other and surely made my Insight Week incredibly positive.
I feel some of the information in the first sessions were not tailored to an audience of students who never had an exposure into the world of finance. However, everyone was very happy to explain twice or even three times any concept I was not able to grasp at first. I have surely developed teamwork and communication skills which I will benefit from in my degree.
The Company
The Insight was incredibly well structured and planned. Everyday was jam-packed with a great deal of interesting, informative and exciting activities. There was always something to do, transitions were smooth and we were always placed in large and beautiful rooms. The assessment day on Friday was also carefully organised and planned.
The atmosphere during my Insight was very good. Although a few sessions might have been to full of information, overall the amount of speaking and listening done by us was balanced. The cohort of students that did the Spring Into Banking with me was amazing and there was no competition felt at all.
My work shadows were very explicative of what I would be required to do, should I join the firm in a full time role. I attended phone calls, meetings and was exposed to a wide variety of platforms, softwares that are currently present at Deutsche Bank. I know what to expect if I joined the Graduate Scheme.
Several sessions were run to explore the company culture, by understanding its values, its requirements, its divisions and its ideal calibre of candidates. Those sessions were interactive and did not feel long at all. The speakers did to make it as entertaining and hands-on as possible, from making us play a short sketch, to discuss topics in teams.
Everything Else
We were given a voucher to grab lunch out from Tuesday onwards (on Monday lunch was provided). Travel expenses were not reimbursed for those who lived in London (i.e. if you took the tube/bus to get to the buildings). It would have been great to have those reimbursed as, for one that does not possess a Travel Card, that would cost about £5 per day.
There were several opportunities to network with senior members and graduates, via panel discussions and the work shadows. Everyone was very happy and cheerful to talk to you, and I surely managed to expand my network. Networking events were usually held in the evening and I found them very productive and interesting.
I would definitely recommend this Spring Into Banking experience to any of my friend. The Technology division has so much to offer to everyone, being them from a technological background or not. It has been an unforgettable experience and I have felt valued throughout the whole week, which made it even more special.
