    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the insight programme. The team structured the programme in a very organised manner. We were able to learn about the different service lines very in-depth. This helped me to understand the different functions, which in turn led to me discovering what divisions/functions might be best for me.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued. The company offered a fast track to the assessment centre next year. Not to mention, the team also organised speed networking sessions with staff from all service lines. I felt this helped me to develop my professional network which is very beneficial for career related purposes.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We were grouped into teams of 8. Each team had a host (which was a current EY employee). I felt this was very good, as we were able to reach out for help/support from actual employees anytime we want. The hosts were also very friendly and willing to provide clarity to any of queries.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think it will definitely assist me in my future careers. This is because with the additional information I received on the different service lines, I was able to make an informed decision of what role suits me and interests me best. Not to mention, the ability to network with staff also gave me a strong understanding into the day-to-day tasks of EY employees.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Like mentioned before, the insight programme was very well structured. The first day was filled with panels, and talks by senior employees from the different service lines. It also included an opportunity for a speed networking session (with over 30 EY employees). The day then ended on a light note, where we got to spend time with fellow students at a bowling alley.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was very amicable and friendly. Students seemed really enthusiastic and glad to be part of the programme. The hosts and organising team seemed really professional, but not unwelcoming. Definitely a very nice atmosphere to be in. The numerous breaks that we had also enabled students to really immerse one another within the friendly atmosphere.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm provided lots fo resources on personality traits and what roles might be best suited to us. Not to mention, the firm also provided a lot of advice on applications (e.g. what skills EY will be looking for and how best to demonstrate this in the application form and CV).

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight definitely informed me as to the role of an EY employee across the different service lines. This in turn gave me conviction as to whether or not I would want to be part of the firm in the near future when I graduate from my degree in university.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The fact that we had hosts guiding our discussions was very beneficial to helping us understand the company culture. The ability to just ask any question to our hosts proved to be very successful (in my view). Not to mention, during the panel discussion the panelists also touched a lot on the collegiate culture of EY.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was very valuable. Like mentioned before, knowing the different service lines is vital to understanding what I want to pursue as a career in the future. The fact that a job in EY opens lots of door is also very appealing to me and definitely made me want to work in EY.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • For people travelling outside of London, the transportation fees and accommodation fees are covered. Those staying outside of London had the opportunity to stay in Hilton hotel, where the event was hosted. I thought this was really amazing as the whole 2 days was hosted in a Hilton venue just across EY's building.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • The first day involved a speed networking event which lasted almost an hour. This enabled us to understand the different service lines and the culture of each department. We were also encouraged to connect with emplyoees on linkedin for any followups that we might have. As such, I really enjoyed the networking session.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • At the end of the first day, we spent our time at a bowling alley. There were adequate amounts of food with a variety of games such as bowling, air hockey, ping pong, pool and much more. We also participated in a bowling tournament with EY employees and students from the event.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, we were informed of the pro-bono work that EY employees are involved in.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Would definitley recommend this to a friend. It was a very well structured event with lots to be gained. It's also only 2 days long which is really good as it wouldn't eat in too much into exam revision time for many of the students preparing for summer exams (event took part during easter).
