    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the insight because many people from different departments talked to us both on a panel event, in presentations and through networking. Also all 4 service lines were introduced, which was very useful in identifying daily activities and what i could see myself in. It was nice to meet people with similar interests as well.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Everyone at the firm were so lovely that i felt welcome from the start. They were all very friendly so a stranger is not the right word to use! I felt part of the team when i finished the scheme so near family i would like to consider myself as being valued.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There were so many opportunities to ask questions both individually and anonymously so there was lots of support on offer. Equally, each speaker had their own tips and when i gave a presentation i had good and constructive feedback. Instructions were explained well so there was plenty of guidance. Absolutely fantastic!

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills developed in just 2 days really are skills for life that are applicable in business as well as outside. Networking with people similar to myself as well as professionals is a skill for life as is trying to get on with people. Presentation skills are usegul and applicable always and this scheme built my confidence which will trally help in the future.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well organised. It had a good balance between breaks, networking, presentations, case studies and skill sessions. The days were long but not too tiring and gave plenty of opportunities to network with speakers. The application process was also well organised and i knew what i was doing at each stage

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was really goood. There were definitely some very intelligent people in the room but i did not feel competitive, only friendly and encouraging. Everyone was there to do their best and put in energy. The speakers and staff at EY also added to this great atmosphere there at ey.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think it was hard to invest everything in myself as the scheme was only 2 days. However, whenever we did skills sessions the team did provide feedback and tips on how we did. I think personal development is sometimes up to us, not just the people at ey and this might develop over time.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Hearing from so many different people working ar EY, it was easy to imagine working there. Not only this but actually visiting the offices put it in perspective. Also hearing about the good social side of the conpany provided insight into what it would be like to work there also.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • There was a lot of stress on the importance of company culture. There were presentations on the values of the company, the work life balance and promoting females in business. The importance of building a better working world was also stresses throughout speeches which shows the importance of te culture.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content about what the different service lines did was very valuable and the skills each of these needed. This allowed me to see if i would suit working in these sectors or narrow down my career plans should i feel certain sectors werent for me. Highly valuable insight it was.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • This is really good because it means no one is excluded for economic reasons. It is particularly good if you live far away or are commuting every day. Not every company would have offered this so i am pleased to not have paid a penny of my travel! It allows people of all backgrounds to participate.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Definitely. There were networking events and a panel of speakers to talk to. The staff were very friendly so lots of questions were welcomed. Also after each topic talk, questions were welcomed from the floor. There were a range of people to talk to from all sectors which was good.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The social event was really good fun and a good way to get to know people. It was well organised and a good way to meet people. The networking event was quite rushed and there was litttle time at each station but it was good to meet people of different departments.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes through networking, i found out about the sports activities that conpany offers such as football and basketball. Perhaps more could have been said about these to get more of a feel for the company but that might be more useful if i actually apply to the firm later on.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes. This event is useful to both people unsure of what they want to do as well as for those knowing completely they want to come to ey! There was a lot of content covered and it was organised so yes would recommend it to a friend who is considering it.
