    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed learning about the various different services offered at EY and the diverse teams within those services. Without attending this placement, I would be unsure as to what EY was really about as I believe you can only really understand a firm when you can see the daily workings of the firm.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Prior to the placement, the communication with the firm was excellent, ensuring we were prepared for the placement. In addition, I felt very valued as the firm took into account the travelling distance I was coming from, and accounted for it to sort out accommodation and transport so that I could participate fully in this placement.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Whenever I needed help or advice concerning various activities, I was always met with warm advice and answers that made me be able to continue the work. I never felt incompetent as the program leaders were very accommodating of anything I required. Having table hosts also helped in activities as with such a large group, getting questions answered would have been tedious without table hosts.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • In terms of skills for life, I feel that the presentation tasks honed my skills as it made me more confident in speaking to large groups. Also, it helped me work on team communication and time management skills as we were in charge of managing the preparation time. The information I received about the firm will help me in the future when deciding what placement I want to do with the firm for my summer internship.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The structure was amazing. From leaving time for arrivals to structuring the days perfectly. I was amazed that we never overran with timings and everything was concise. The speakers that came to talk to us spoke about the right things that interested us and also allowed us to ask questions that would aid our applications and perceptions of the firm.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone that came to speak to us really conveyed their love for their jobs. They were enthusiastic and passionate about what they did and about the firm, making me more confident in the kind of workplace it is. It reassured me of the value the company places on their employees which is something that is important to me. The atmosphere was friendly, especially when we visited the office and met more employees.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Spending the majority of the second day on group work and team presentations was a method of developing us as it seemed to be the type of training that is carried out for employees and investing that much effort and time into university students was very well received as I feel this is how employees are treated in the firm.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Being able to ask panel members what their daily roles are helped me understand what the full time roles would involve. In addition, during the speed networking event, being able to talk to graduate scheme students and new employees was great as it allowed us to talk to people closer to our age and help us know whether this firm was right for us.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • We received an introduction of the firm on the first day, particularly about the company's culture and what their values are. Particularly, we had a session called success at selection where we were given more insight as to what the company look for in potential employees. These insights and talks helped us to understand more about the company's values and cultures.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was very valuable as prior to the insight days, I was unsure as to exactly what the firm did but after learning more in depth of what they do, I am now able to understand more and make a better judgment as to what team in the firm to apply for in the summer internship.
