    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the Discovery Day at BP, the programme was well organised, comprehensive and followed in a timely manner. The talks were very informative from BP employees (HR & technical staff). I particularly liked the lab tours and introduction to HIVE visualization room where we discussed roles of a geoscientist.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • From leaving the train station via the BP free of charge shuttle service, to the welcome at the main reception and helpful guidance in finding the rest of the group I felt valued as a visitor to the BP Sunbury site. Speakers took the time to speak to you after each talk, including very senior members of staff.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The full morning session was planned and delivered to prepare current students for the application procress into BP via the internship or graduate scheme. This involved multiple talks, as well as a peer-review session on previous applications to critically understand the application process. This was supported by lots of different employees of BP.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The information received on the BP Discovery Day will be particularly useful for my upcoming calendar rather than my studies. The aim of the BP Discovery Day was to introduce the candidates to BP, not particularly develop skills that would be applicable to degree studies. Soft skills were developed more so than technical skills.

The group split into two groups during the afternoon to look at the different labs across the site.
