    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • To a large extent I enjoyed my insight week at Savills. The thing that stood out the most was the atmosphere of the firm. Everyone is enthusiastic and passionate about their role in the team. Each individual is unique and prove niche qualities, thus therefore creates a net result of efficiency and high quality work for clients. This is something I would love to be a part of in my later career. I have especially enjoyed the variety throughout the week with the true work experience in the team, attending talks, going on tours of the city and kings cross development and social events.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I have felt hugely valued by my team in the last 5 days. Although I lack knowledge and experience, I have been allocated tasks which are new and challenging to me. Each of the tasks, I spent time on and paid attention to detail. All tasks I have completed have been overlooked by a team member above me and they have been pleased with my work and also indicated where I could improve. The tasks have been part of major projects the team have been working on, and I am proud that I have contributed to the teams work for high profile clients.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The support and guidance throughout the week has been great! From my team, they guided me through tasks by giving me background overviews and discussing this with them. For example, about the market a client was looking to invest in. This was really useful as it gave me context, thus making my allocated tasks easier to understand. If i were to get stuck on a task, i felt comfortable asking any team members for help and they were able to explain it in a different way. I made arrangements to meet various other teams for coffee. This was really useful to gain a deeper insight into the role of other professionals in other teams. They were really useful in giving me an overview of what teams they work with in Savills, the kind of projects they work on and also how i can progress in applying for a job at savills.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have developed numerous skills in the last 5 days. Primarily, i have developed my communication skills. More specifically, communication in the work place and among professionals. I have learnt how to hold a two way conversation and ask appropriate questions with professionals throughout the business. Secondly, I have developed my research skills. This differs to that of school and university because it is for real life clients and must be of ultimate accuracy. I have learnt to use highly reliable resources, such as the firms data base, to find high quality and up to date research.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight week was immensely well structured, organised and informative. The timetable of the week was great, aswell as the daily email updates of the day ahead. One thing i would suggest would be the times to get from one office or location to the next and what tube line to get for those unfamiliar with London! The talks in the morning were so useful and something that stood out from any other work experience week! From the talks i discovered a keen interest in two other departments and from that i have been able to network with people from those teams and consequently potentially gain some work experience in that team. The main thing that stood out in the structure was the variation throughout the week. Being able to sit in the team and be allocated tasks has been very useful. The talks has meant we have had a true flavour of all teams. The networking events have been great in meeting other grads and directors.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere at Savills is the most predominant feature that has stood out for me this week. Within the team, everyone is very unique and friendly thus creating a highly efficient and strong team that i have felt very comfortable and welcomed into. The firm reflects a network of enthusiastic and passionate professionals that i would love to be a part of. Finally, the insight week students have created a very fun, outgoing and driven set of individuals that i intend to maintain in touch with.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company has invested a large amount into my personal training and development. I have developed skills to be applied in work tasks. The company has helped develop my confidence and professionalism by exposing me to clients and all professionals in the firm from Graduates to the Chief Executive. The company has also given me access to an immense amount of guidance about applying for further insight schemes and APC graduate schemes.

I have been exposed to the roles of the team i was in - seeing how they deal with clients professionally, balance and prioritise instructions and work with other teams.
