    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the Savills Insight week, it was a great way to see how the company ran and it was great to see the overall office dynamic. I particularly enjoyed going and listening into the client meetings and getting involved in the various projects that people were doing !

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued at the company with everyone being very friendly and sociable, whilst also maintaining their professional integrity. I was given a range of different jobs, and really enjoyed learning how they would contribute to the work of the team. I also felt very valued by becoming involved in the client meetings and being asked my own opinons in them.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I felt extremely guided and supported throughout the whole week, with there always being people around to ask a question to if I was stuck on anything. It was great having a personal mentor who was very happy to answer any of my questions I had and taught me about the different roles within the team.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe the skills I developed and the information I learnt last week will be skills for life, with it all showing me an insight to what the industry is like and to know what to expect in the future. One of the skills I learnt was seeing how everyone balanced the social side of the job with the professional side of it.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • I found the insight extremely well structured with there always being something to do and work on. Each day my mentor would tell me what would be happening and organised for the day ahead, which created a seamless structure throughout the week. I particularly enjoyed listening to the conference call from London every morning and hearing about the range of Savills teams and their roles.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • There was a really nice friendly and welcoming atmosphere during the whole insight week. Everyone was very friendly and sociable and were happy to take time out of their busy schedules to explain to me what they were doing. The overall office dynamic seemed great with all the departments integrating and working together very well.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Savills invested a lot of time in personal training and development of my skills throughout the whole week, from letting me sit in client meetings to taking me out of the office for shop measurements and site visits. Everyone in the department explained the different jobs and projects that were currently managing, which significantly contributed to my overall understanding of the department.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight programme significantly helped me understand what it would be like to have a full time job in a company like Savills, from getting to the office at 8:45am and doing a full day of work until 5:45pm. It was also shown through the amount of work that the Savills employees do during their normal working day and the amount of work they accomplish (which was a lot !)

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight was a great way to see the company's culture and understand how the overall office runs on a day to day basis. I also found it very interesting seeing the careful balance everyone has between professionalism and socialising. It was also extremely helpful seeing how the whole office works together with a range of departments integrating together on one project.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I thought the content of the day was extremely important in helping me decide my future career path. Most of the work I did was for the development department, however I did look into other departments and see how they ran, giving me a overall look at the range of jobs at Savills has to offer. This will be extremely useful when applying for specific jobs in the future.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I have been reimbursed for all my expenses for the week of up to £100, with my expenses including lunch and buses. It was very generous of Savills to offer this - I was not expecting it from them, as I was very happy to be on the insight week in the first place.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were plenty of opportunities for networking and meeting other employees in the range of departments at Savills. There was a lovely lunch on Thursday where all the insight students were able to meet the other department directors and employees and this was a great way of meeting the other employees. The after work drinks was also a great way of meeting the other graduates and employees who worked at Savills.
