    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The Team at the Guildford office have been really friendly and enjoyable to work with. I have enjoyed learning about what planning at Savills is all about, and getting an insight into the company as a whole, as well as getting a taste of what I could potentially be doing in the future. I have enjoyed every moment of my week and I would recommend the insight programme to anyone.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • At the beginning of the week I was introduced to everyone in the team and instantly felt welcomed. When given tasks, I felt that everything I said was valued and that my help creating reports was valued by my mentor and others in my team. Overall I felt valued during my week here.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • During my time here my mentor was always there whenever I had any questions or wanted any support/ guidance, and never made me feel silly for asking any questions. I was showed how to carry out all of the tasks I was given, but I feel I could have benefited from this process being more in depth and less rushed at times, as there was so much to take on board I struggled to take it all in.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have learned during the past 5 days have been invaluable. I have learned so much not only about savills as a company, but also about my own strengths and weakness, and what I can improve upon. This week has opened up my eyes to what sort of job I would like in the future, and has certainly given me something to aim towards, really giving me a desire to do well in my degree studies.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight week was extremely well structured from the word go. Eleanor Wood has been amazing at communicating via email everything that I've needed to know, and made me feel really prepared for what was required of me before the week even began. The week itself ran like clockwork and the structure was well communicated, meaning I always knew where I needed to be and what I needed to be doing.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere in the office has been extremely friendly, with a great atmosphere of being productive yet relaxed. It is definitely the sort of atmosphere that I would love to work in in the future, as it is obvious to see that people in the office have good relationships with one another, and people don't sit in compete silence at all times.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • For the most part of the week I was left to my own devices, and apart from my mentor showing me the ropes briefly at the beginning of the week, I didn't receive much training or development. However, I don't feel like this was a negative thing at all, as I learned so much from observing others and sitting in on meetings, And I didn't require any further training for the tasks I was set to do, and I am sure that more time and energy would be invested in me if I was here for a longer period of time.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • During my week here I feel like I have experienced what a week working for Savills as a graduate would be like from shadowing my mentor and observing what others have done in the office. From what I have experienced and seen, working at Savills on a full time basis would be amazing, with a good balance of working hard, getting involved with meetings, networking and getting involved with fun activities too.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • From working in the office, sitting in on company meetings and attending a networking events, I have gained a great insight and understanding in the company culture. I can tell that Savills has a great hard-working, friendly and fun culture which values individuals and building relationships with people.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • This week has given me a really good insight into the Planning side of Savills, and it is definitely a path that I am going to consider for the future. However, I did not see much of other departments, and would definitely still love to see what other options there are for my future career path.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I have not been reimbursed expenses but I have been instructed on how I can go about doing this and I will do so.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There was one networking event this week, which was drinks in a local hotel, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I met some really interesting people and had good discussions with them about Savills as a company and options for me, and got some peoples business cards which may come in handy in the future.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The event was in a lovely location and was a great opportunity to meet people. people interacted and mingled with each other well. There were not any older Savills employees there though, which would have been nice to talk to some of them and get some more peoples perspectives.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, People in the office have been discussing activities that they have participated in in the past and what they are organising for in the future. It appears that there are activities for everyone, and they seem like an amazing way to meet new people and keep active as well.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Without any hesitation I would recommend this insight week to a friend. It has been so useful to me and the lessons that I have learned from it I will remember and use in my life in the future. I cannot think of any negatives of participating in the insight week at all, its one of the best opportunities I have ever been given, and would recommend anyone to grab it with both hands.
