  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really ejoyed my placment but at times I missed being at university and home.

  • I was very included with all the work that I was given, really involved in the programme and was asked my opinions on things I had been working on

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor would help me with anything I had trouble with, I had no problems asking for help and getting it. I was also allowed to get on with it myself and if i needed help just to ask.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy most of the time. I had my own work and I could plan out my day, some days were busier than others.

  • Responsible for my own work and time management.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It has helped me greatly with my 3rd year dissertation in both written and practical lab skills. I have also improved my presentation skills and confidence which is something I will have gained for the future.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office was very friendly and everyone waqs happy to chat, but at the same time you could get work done in quietness,

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I had my project sorted about three wekks in. The harlow site had shut down so everyone was moving over to stevenage so it was a bit hectic when I first arrived, but things went smoothly from then on.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was taught properly how to use all the equipment and taught lab skills. There were lectures that we could attend so we could learn abouyt something totally different. We also got to see how other departments work such as the animal science house.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Although I really enjoyed working at GSK I do not think I would like to continue wokring in a lab as part of my career.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I have made some life long friends and there was always something to do at the weekend/week nights.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Quite expensive as it is near london. Travelling was also quite expensive.

  • Not much to do, as it is so close to london, there isnt alot.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was but you had to look for it. Some of my friends joined the local hockey team.
