    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • This insight has been a wonderful experience for me. I had the opportunity to meet some amazing people from various backgrounds (Uni of Glasgow, St. Andrews, Cork etc.) and learn some very important lessons on teamwork, collaboration and software development in a corporate environment. Our mentors provided us with helpful feedback and the work shadowing greatly widened my perspective.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt valued not only because of all the helpful feedback I've received, but also because of the friendly conversations I've been able to have with current employees, campus recruiters and team mentors. Everyone in the company seemed to be friendly and approachable, always trying to make sure your questions are properly answered.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I have received guidance and support with every occasion and from every company representative: team mentors, campus recruiters and employees, all of which made sure that the program would run smoothly and without any complications. I should also mention how I got lost winding up in the wrong building, and how a team employee simply led me to the correct location in less than 5 minutes.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Our mentors have helped us improve during our workshops and coding challenges with tailored feedback, valuable advice and useful information. Employees have offered us valuable insights into their field of work during our scheduled work shadowing and have made sure we truly develop our understanding of their environment and culture.

The events were carried out at their timetabled hours, with no kind of delays or interruptions. Everything seemed to flow naturally due to our great coordinators.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid my train travel and hotel expenses. Breakfast was provided from Monday to Wednesday at the hotel, we had lunch and a chat with company employees in the office canteen area, and even dinner was served on Monday and Tuesday during the socials. Overall I would say that I was well catered for.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were plenty of opportunities for meeting other employees of the company and even other undergraduates from various backgrounds and universities. Networking was a huge part of this spring insight, with lots of great social events, workshops and team coding challenges. Work shadowing was a particularly useful experience for me because I got to know a current employee of the firm with whom I share a great deal of interests.

  • I did find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work, such as sports, socials, get-togethers and the like. Volunteering opportunities within the company are also available and greatly appreciated.
