About You
Very useful three days at the Glasgow branch of J.P. Morgan. The branch seems to have a very good attitude towards it own work. The event itself had some minor things I would change and recommended to them. However, free bar during the social events and very good opportunity for networking made the event excellent.
They were slow to bring people up in the morning and had the incorrect time for when they wanted us to arrive on two days.
The mentors during coding challenges were excellent in most situations. They provided just enough insight to push the groups but not so much to withdraw from the experience.
They seemed to push the idea of incremental changes that provides immediate value to the user with simple changes until a complex system is formed.
The Company
The three days were on the whole well structured however the day long coding challenge was gruelling and could have been broken up.
The atmosphere was positive and rather relaxed but not out with the expected bounds. Work shadowing got a little dull at points but I made valuable connections through it so overall was worth it.
Due to the shirt period of time they invested little time into my personal development.
This combined with networking opportunities were the most valuable part of the week by a long way.
It was very specific to the Glasgow branch but the culture was on display the whole way through. It's clear they want the best individual to work in the team which includes technical ability but is not exclusive to it.
They week showed me I would be more than happy going forward with the JP Morgan Glasgow branch and I will be looking for an internship going forward.
Everything Else
Train tickets were paid for and all the food and drink was included however some of the food was pretty substandard.
Thus was by far the most valuable part of the week in my opinion. I made connection with numerous people both inside the company and at my level attending the event.
The recruitment reps made the socials genuinely enjoyable and informative in a casual setting.
They have a fair amount of social stuff available to employees and it seemed that at least some people made use of it.
Yes. This insight is worth it to get on JP Morgan's radar but also for all the people you meet doing it.
