    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • On the whole, I really enjoyed the insight programme since we got to learn so much about different technologies. I do wish the technology showcase had been longer so that we could have learnt more about the actual technogies since it felt a bit rushed. I also would have preferred some more interactive activities on day 1.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • It did feel like we were really valued since EY had clearly made such an effort to organise this event to such a high standard. Especially the way they had brought in so many different people to come and speak to us from different service lines and levels of superiority.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I thought we were given a very good amount of guidance. All of our questions were answered about the topics we were learning and about our potential futures with EY. With the hackathon, we were given some guidance, but we also were given independence the develop our own ideas fully.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think the skills I developed in networking and speaking to new people in a professional environment where very useful. However, personally I found that the knowledge I gained about these new disruptive technologies was the most valuable aspect of this insight programme, as we got to learn so much about the technology and its applications.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Generally it felt very well structured as we were always busy, but we still got comfortable breaks to talk to each other. On the first day I thought we were sitting for a bit too long without doing much actively ourselves. I thought the talk with the case study was very enjoyable since we got to interact with the topic.

    3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was very friendly and lively. It did not feel overly competitive, yet it did still feel professional. I liked how it felt that everyone wanted to be there and was keen to learn. I would have liked a few more activities within the table on the first day so that we could have interacted with them in a similar way to the hackathon.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I don’t think we were invested in that’s much in terms of training, but I also don’t think that was the point of it. We learnt certain skills however I think the main focus was on learning more about the different roles in the company and emerging technologies.

    3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The talks on the first day definitely helped me understand what the different areas of the company did. However, I’m not sure it was really explained for each of them what they did from day to day. The panel on the second day did make this much more clear for their roles.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • 4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, they were very approachable and we were encouraged to talk to them outside of the scheduled activities. However, since the breaks were quite short I sometimes found it hard to find a time where these people were free. I would have liked to have a bit more time to speak with them.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • We were given many opportunities to network with each other and employers. I thought that with the golf, we were limited to interacting with the people in our team for most of the time so maybe a slightly more open social event would have been preferable. However the golf was very fun.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend since I learnt so much and got to develop professional skills. I think it would be relevant for all students, not just STEM students, as these digital technologies will affect everyone so I believe it would be beneficial for everyone to learn about them.
