    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was a 2 days programme where the first day focus a lot more on information regarding EY whereas the second day was a Hackathon followed by a panel discussion. While the first day was very informative, it is also tiring as most people struggled to focus after hours of talks. Second day was a lot better as we are actively involved in the Hackathon and there are a lot more interaction between students and the EY employees.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • It was one of the best experience that I have as most of the employees in the programme are very friendly. They made the effort to approach as many people as they can and encouraged interaction between students and their employee. An example would be This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions introducing an EY employee to our group and pushed us to play golf together during the networking session! :)

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • During the hackathon on the second day, This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions was my team's facilitator. He provided us with a clear idea of the problem statement and even gave us some of his own opinions. He guided us throughout the entire Hackathon and made sure that we are focus on the problem. Therefore, I think the guidance provided are very good!

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I personally study a degree in Actuarial Science and my main impetus to join this programme is more if seeing how technology integrate into businesses and less of getting information which are useful for my degree. I believe that the programme has gave me a sufficient idea about what I wanted to see such as AR, digital passports, blockchain and how these technology can potentially be used in a business model.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • I believe the structure right now is meant to help us to get more information about EY and also about knowing more people. However, i believe that the structure can be improved such that not all of the talks are arranged together on the same day as it is hard for us to take in that much information within a day.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere is rather fun as we get to meet different people in different rounds and because of that, I think the atmosphere is rather fun! However, in terms of the programme wise, it may get a bit dull as the talks dragged on for too long and people ended up being more tired even though we haven't done anything.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was a lot more about information cramping and less of development. Half of the entire programme was based on talks and detailed information regarding different sectors in EY. The only part which helped in my personal development was the hackathon and I believe that EY can do a lot better than this. One suggestion would be giving us actual case study or even example for us to work on from different department so that we are able to get a clear and concise idea about what each sector does.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • There was a panel discussion section at the end of the 2 days programme and we had the chance to ask a lot of questions to the partners and even intern in the company right now which helped me to understand about their role a lot better. However, due to time constraint, they are only able to answer about 10 to 15 questions.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The entire insight gave me a clear idea about the roles of employees in different sectors but not so much regarding the company culture. Despite the fact that the employees talk to each other a lot, it is hard for us to see how the culture in the company is without working with them directly.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were many breaks in between the talks and also a networking session on the first night. During the breaks, all the EY employees would be around and we can simply approach them to ask questions. The networking session even includes playing golf with EY personnel and that was a great opportunity for anyone to network with EY employees. It is no doubt one of the highlight of the programme.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • As I have mentioned above, there are plenty of networking opportunities and even playing golf with an EY employee on the fjrst night. Since we can talk to any of them during the breaks and all of them are super friendly, all those networking sessions are great and I enjoyed them very much.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 1/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Despite all the comments that I have made regarding the programme, I still believe that this programme is a good opportunity. During the panel discussion, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] said there there are no such thing as a silly question and I believe that there are no such thing as a useless opportunity. Even though this is a very short insight programme, I learnt a lot more about EY than doing research on EY online. Furthermore, we have a lot of opportunities to network with EY personnel throughout the sessions.
